It's complete rubbish to say people don't like him because of his glass jaw, at least as far as Brits go. Frank Bruno was one of the most popular fighters I can remember in Britain and he had a glass jaw, people actually liked him because he still wanted to fight the best despite that. Khan has done nothing to win over the Brittish boxing fans, most of whom like to see their fighters go the Brittish - Euro title route to a World title shot. He got overhyped too quickly on the back of the olympics and has shown no class both by calling out Ricky Hatton and not acknowledging the cut after the Barrera fight. Speaking of the Barrera fight, that was a complete travesty. If it had been in Germany we would never have heard the end of how corrupt German boxing is. I'm sick hearing about how racism is a factor in the hate he gets. There probably are some people who hate Pakistani's, there are also people who hate whites and blacks etc. As Khan is the only prominent fighter from the Indian sub-continent it probably gets him as much, if not more support amongst that race as it gets him hate from bigots. People don't like him because he gets overrated, gets cherry picked opponents, gets dodgy decisions and comes accross as a bit of a tosser at times. Nothing to do with glass jaws or race.
i like john murray hes like the new ricky hatton id love to see him pressure khan for 12 straight rounds see how **** he is then
murray didnt get the hype from the olympics he has had to work his way up which is why hes more respected in britain than khan
I'm from England and don't particularly like him. Plenty of other good british fighters out there who don't get the hype he gets. If Froch was of asian origin and Khan white things would have been a bit different. He's not a bad fighters to be honest, but there loads of others better than him that do more and still don't get the shots he gets..
A lot is said of Khans arrogance but I'm not really sure if it is arrogance, you have to remember that when Khan turned pro he was a very young boy and he was thrown into a media circus. Then when the cameras are put on him, he gets asked some questions and comes away with some VERY stupid answers. I'm not sure whether it might have been Warren who was pushing him by telling him to hype himself up. When Khan, who at this point had fought no-one, started claiming that he was better than Manny Pacquiao and that "he would be a world champ by the end of the year", despite getting knocked down in nearly every fight against low level opposition, it kinda pissed people off. He was getting opportunities and money that other boxers were having to earn the hard way and probably will never get close to in their career and Khan had done nothing to prove himself at this point other than his performance in the Olympics. Then when he moved to Sky it just got worse, there was an commercial for the Khan Presscott fight which started off by showing footage of sporting greats including among others Mohammed Ali & Michael Schumacher, then it cuts to Khan claiming that a new star has been born .... WTF! atsch Once he got KO'd, I think a lot of boxing fans felt vindicated and started to get behind him. Khan also seems very aware of what he says now, he's still prone to saying stupid things and being led by the weasel faced ******* Warren but he does seem to pander to the audiencea bit more now.
Hmmm..he is 22 was tested too early and failed he fought a puncher and got KTFO.He isn't pampered like the mofo are saying, he was tested at a young age. What!! tell me- did the British golden boy ( hatton) get tested at 22, no! What's all this about going the british-euro route? you have got to be kidding. There's better names out there for Khan than the local challenge and better training in LA than Britain. How would he live up to expectation if he stayed there like Calslappy? he isn't going to improve now is he? nah..he is still young we will see what happens.
yeah but that puncher turned out to be an EXTREMELY limited fighter that khan should have embarrassed. it really showed that even an unskilled guy with decent power can utterly destroy him...
it doesn't matter what age the guy is, it matters how experienced he is in the ring. and believe me when khan fought prescott he had PLENTY of ring experience to win that fight.
As a fighter I don't mind watching him fight. Actually him being vulnerable due to his chin can add suspense to his fights as you never know when he may get dropped even from guys who aren't big punchers. He is, however, a menace behind the steering wheel.
because he is fragile, I like fighters that are rugged and can take a good shot, Khan is like a barbie doll,, he has all the window dressings you would like in a fighter like skills and the speed but his chin is so damn weak
So, people hate Amir Khan because random people visit a random website creating random threads. That makes so much sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
