I'm sorry Joe how long exactly did it take you to fight another world champion ?? about 8 years after you won that Vacant tltle.

Eh?! That's bollocks!

Almost all the Hatton fans here are Joe fans.

 

Hate is such a strong word...but Joe is often highly ungracious.

He built up a big chip on his shoulder over what he felt was getting snubbed by the media for several years, and despite him now having the praise he's still in that kind of mindset.

He'll be the quintessential "grumpy old fighter propping up the bar" in years to come, no doubt.

 

My view of this is simple, I don't give him any credit in terms of his career for it, however, I don't massively blame him either. Having spent years defending his title against some dangerous fighters (Reid, Sheika at the time, Mitchell, Wodhall, Brewer, admittedly a lot of less than stellar opposition too) then stepped up to face two prime, undefeated champs and beat them convincingly, he still got no recognition from some of the idiots in States (who, unfortunately, control the HOF). Contrast that with the way half of them (see some of the comments in the general forum) think a career journeyman like Glen Johnson is some kind of great because of his win over shot Jones and you have the rationale. An easy route to recognition. Not that the knowledgeable fans here give any credit for it, but the US public are easily fooled!

 

People dislike him because of his personality.
