Why do people have such a hard time grasping that boxing is a business?

Weall know Ward would be a clear favorite over Froch in a rematch, but that is beside the point. If I were in control of Froch's career, I would definatly go for the Chavez jr fight for all the reasons OP mentioned.Especially at Carls age. The last 2 or 3 fights of an established fighters career are about maximizing revenue, and rightfully so.
If revenue AND legacy show up in the same late career fight (ala Tyson-Lewis) that's wonderful for everybody. Unfortunately, that is just not the case here.

 

How about this...why do fanboy crotch lickers have such a hard time grasping that boxing is a fukkin sport? The best should fight the best. But seeing as how ward already best froch in a match no one wants to see again...I got no issue with the 2nd best fighting another world class challenger. If u can call Chavez such.

 

Not sure why all the money n lookin out for his family n **** even comes into play in a ward froch Chavez conversation. For god sake, ward beat froch no rematch required or wanted, Chavez don't get to come into division n fight champ but he's a huge name n a world class fighter so if number 2 froch wants to fight him...so be it. Look at that...didn't even have to talk about a guys health, business, family n blah blah blah.

 

Im always analysing the ppv numbers . Isn't that what all of you are doing? I don't care who actually wins the fights or who fights who, I'm only interested in who the highest grossing matches.

Look at this Mayweather character. He appears to make lots of money regardless of who he fights. Does he win most of his fights?

 

everything you said was true. add to that the fact that froch would get his ears boxed off again vs ward, its a no brainer not to fight him again.

Plus against Chavez I see it as a 50/50 fight. Chavez have a solid chin and his as slow as Froch. Both guys will slug each other on the fight for 12 round. It should be a fan friendly fight!

 

If Carl rubbed a magic lamp and could either get another payday or redeem his loss to Ward, do you think he would pick the payday??
He has plenty of money and he is at a point in his career where he can allow himself to look beyond that.

Problem is he knows he can't beat Ward.

 

I personally would rather fight a guy I could beat the **** out of and make twice the money in an all-out war than a guy I had almost no chance of beating for half the money in a fight that nobody would ever give a second viewing to. It's really pretty simple.

 

Froch has earned his payday no question but Hearns knows the pay days come to an end if they see Ward again !
