Why do people keep saying Floyd needs to fight Martinez?

Floyd Mayweather will never go near Sergio Martinez, it is that simple. Guerrero has been selected as an opponent and hauled up two weight classes, almost got clubbed back down by the crude Aydin before beating the elite Andre Bertroid, great!

To be fair if Martinez did come down to 154 Floyd should fight him but he'd have to come down at that weight, beat someone worthwhile for it drum up any interest. He won't. Martinez wants money and he's interested in maximising his account, not his legacy or he would consider going up to fight Ward even at a 164 catchweight. He has no interest

Floyd needs to fight either Pacquiao and/or the winner from Canelo/Trout - I hear talk of Danny Garcia mentioned. Floyd likes to fight his little guys doesn't he as long as they're not Filipino

The reason people want to see the fight, is because Martinez wants the fight. He even agreed to a 80-20 split and to come down in weight to fight Floyd. So why is it ok for FLoyd to fight smaller fighters and have them come up in weight?

SRL is a legend though - going up from 147 directly to Marvin Hagler, arguable the greatest MW of them all, with 1 fight in 5 years...

Comparing anything SRL has done to Mayweather is laughable, let's just stop

 

You got a good point. Too bad hes making the same money no matter who he fights.

 

People just want to see a 36 yr old Floyd in there with an aopponent who's way bigger than him, hoping that he will lose so they can say "see he's was never that good in the first place."

Floyd is small WW. He fought a career JR. WW in Oritz and got outweighed by 14lbs on fight night. The only thing sergio has over Floyd is a tremendous size advantage, and people know that Floyd is so great skilwise, that they're hoping that putting a WW in there with a MW will finally take his 0.:-(

 

I agree with everything except saying Floyd is a small WW - he's not, he's very comfortable at that weight and looks good at 150 also, he's by no means a 154 fighter but he's similar to Cotto who also doesn't belong at 154
