I think because everyone has picked against him before and he proved them wrong. some react with hate. and foolishly try to denigrate his record. others concede. yes he talks a lot of **** but he backed some of that up, big time!
He wasn't liked by many for a long time, even in his own country. But as FastLeft pointed out he proved a lot of people wrong with the Wlad and Wilder wins and people just accepted they were wrong about him. I definitely fall into that category, I changed my mind about him after the 2nd Chisora fight, he went from a joke in my eyes to being a serious contender. But I also think it's come down to how he's reinvented himself to some degree. He's softened over the years, there was a time every other sentence had a swear word in it and you could never put him on mainstream TV because he was too much of a loose cannon. That along with some of his more unpopular religious belief made him a media pariah. But he's learned to watch his language and keep his personal beliefs to himself and that's made him far more media friendly and palatable to the public.
Liked: brave and skilled Disliked: after Wilder II he has become a big mouth and an insuperable trash talker so that now he thinks to be Ali. But the difference is Ali didnt say the bunches of BS he says every day nor announced fake retires...besides outside the ring Ali fought to make the world a better place for all, succeeding. He instead is good only to divide people. So...entertainer of what? He can just entertain a mass of drunkards and boxing enhanced. Pathetic. Usyk instead is getting a smart entertainer with a balanced sense of humour...despite the war. And its not simple. https://youtube.com/shorts/OFirUzKWwaA?feature=share
Yeah, hard to discredit a record with historic victories over a 40 year old, ready to retire Wlad and a one armed, fundamentally limited Wilder. A more important question would be, how many Fury fans were talking up Wilder prior to the first Fury fight like they are doing now? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the Wilder big ups only started after Fury started floating the idea of retiring after the Whtye fight. Fury fans really have no choice but to start calling Wilder a decent fighter. They couldn't go back to the narrative prior to the trilogy because that would undermine one of Fury's best wins. Funny to see the change of hearts from the Fury fans. Welcome to the Wilder fan club Boys. Wlider = Fury? Too soon? LOL
I respect his win against wlad I respect his comeback when everyone wrote him off He shows balls in the ring when required But his sh.t is getting old and he clearly avoids certain fights For every good win, there is a dozen bin men on his record I think he gets overrated for the wilder fights. Let's be honest, Wild has club level technical ability and someone like Lewis would do him in a round or 2, just like Michael Grant
His career is like a Rocky movie, written off as the underdog multiple times, but he always rises to the occasion, quite literally rising up in the 1st Wilder fight when it looked like it was lights out for him In the current era of HWs, he's the best talker, the most entertaining, and the most skilled in the division
Same reason i like Usyk. He's entertaining in the ring and amusing out of the ring. I think he's generally a decent person too. He comes across as a genuine nice guy who's got plenty of time for random people who talk to him. Watching him training on Morcombe beach while locals gather round is pretty wholesome. Also he annoys a bunch of sour pusses online which is a bonus lol.
