I'll rule out Fury's personality (I do the same when evaluating a singer, athlete, actor...). Well, because the results are behind him. Of course, everything can be disputed (depending on whether you are a Fury fan or a Fury hater). I'm trying, and I'm not saying I'm succeeding, to be objective. He is undefeated, he has one draw fight, which he should have won.
Lies about donating to charity. Doesn't get lower than that. Then when questions about MTK he acts clueless.
Yup he brings the people in the city together to watch his fights. He might be a "prat" but he's our prat.
I find his personality entertaining. It’s a reprieve from all the boring, fake humble nice guys. It’s funny people are getting on him recently for the way he’s insulted Uysk but he’s always behaved this way. He said much worse things about David Price a decade ago. He maligned Wlad before their fight and showed zero respect afterwards.
I like him just fine. I just don't think his resume justifies him being called the greatest heavyweight ever. Perhaps I place too high a standard on ATG status. I believe ATG status is a rarity. That certain criteria need to be met. One being level of opposition. Coupled with dominance and longevity, gets a guy the prestigious moniker of ATG. I'm sorry, but beating Wlad and Wlder 3 times doesn't cut it for me. But, he can still rule and dominate for the next 5-6 years beating all comers in dominant fashion and he will be there.
not sure what you are talking about. when Fury came back in 2018 about at least 95% of boxing fans and commentators recognized Joshua and Wilder as the division's top 2. & a match between Joshua and Wilder was highly anticipated that year. is that right? Fury fought a couple of bums and went off and faced Wilder within 6 months of coming back. since then Fury has beat Wilder 2 times (arguably 3, the majority thought the draw was generous to Wilder). It is what it is. if Wilder is crap it doesn't matter. he was rated highly & also was favourite to win the first and even the second time. might be the whole division is crap, Fury included. that doesn't change what i said. Fury upset the odds a few times and that's why people like him.
Most of your OP I have no problem with, but you did say that people foolishly discredit Fury's record. Isn't that correct? That is what I commented on. And nothing I said was inaccurate. Wlad was 40 and Wilder lacks basic fundamentals. I am also correct wen I say, a lot of Fury fans prior to the trilogy never spoke of him as highly as they do now. Now, did I read every post from every Fury fan, no. But, I don't recall any Fury fan saying Wilder was anything special in the posts I did read. It was a lot of disrespectful comments, bum crusher, windmill etc.
