Why do people not acknowledge that Hopkins/Pascal 2 was a close fight?

Why do people not acknowledge that Hopkins/Pascal 2 was a close fight?

Hopkins put on a great performance and fought well, but the Hopkins/Pascal rematch could have gone either way.
The journalist reporting in The Ring mag said watching ringside he scored the fight 115-114 Pascal, but when reviewing changed his score to 115-113 Hopkins.
He claimed also that some seasoned fight journalists lining press row saw it as a stalemate.

I on first reflection saw an even fight when scoring round by round but as a fight overall would closely call Hopkins a winner. I will have to watch again.

I understand Hopkins is an American legend but that shouldnt influence scoring or opinions.

So how did you really score Hopkins/Pascal 2 and did you think it was a close fight that you could have seen going either way?

I thought Hopkins won by 2 points, but it was ****ing close.

People don't really score on a round by round basis, they just get an overall feel for the fight. I scored the first fight 6 rounds a piece, meaning Pascal won.

I remember scoring it about 4 rounds in favour of B-Hop. Clear victory.

Hopkins won a close but clear fight. What more do you want? What was the point of making this thread?

 Knowing Failey, he'll only sleep better if EVERYONE in the world knows Hops had a close fight with smeone he doesn't consider very good at all. Look at how badly he and his ilk look at Jirov since he lost to Toney. :patsch

Read above and you can see that one person also saw a draw.
Im guessing you are a nuthugger who could only see the fight one way and got drawn into the history making, more than you actually knew.
Philla saw a close fight and obviously wasnt taken in with the making history part.
I said overall I think Hopkins but it was a close fight and normally in close fights people bring in different opinions. On this one where many saw a close fight, the Hopkins fans have brushed that part under the carpet like you would like to

If you dont score the fight, then it feels fairly even. Pascal was in the fight up to the 6th round

Scoring it is a different story. Hopkins won the fight clearly. Most close rounds have to be given to Hopkins, bum rushing every minute or so is not enough. Hopkins consistently landed punches. Pascal landed a good punch every once in a while. Whether or not a single rush wins a round is up to the judge, but imo that isnt the sweet science

:patsch That's why in this thread, i even stated that it was "close but clear". And i'm such a Hopkins nuthugger that i have always stood by the belief that Calzaghe CLEARLY beat Hopkins.

I think Hopkins dominated hard in the rounds that he won.

Why do people overlook the 2 missed kd's? I had it 115-113 hopkins, either that or 116-112 but hopkins really won that fight.

I have to agree that Hopkins did dominate in alot of the rounds he won, which is why I felt as an overall fight I would score to Hopkins, but what about a round by round basis?
