Why do people not acknowledge that Hopkins/Pascal 2 was a close fight?

    People really wanted Hopkins to win so they could witness history.

    I thought both fights were close and could have gone either way.

    Some people wanted Hopkins to win so badly that they ended up giving Hopkins 9 or 10 rounds in each fight.

    In Chad's personal view, the first fight was won by Bernard and in the second fight he dominated, so... I know Chad is no Max or Larry or Teddy but he's just the next guy on the line.

    Hopkins won pretty wide on my scorecard if I remember right. Pascal only had a few good rounds.

    ahh Failey trying to discredit B-Hop. lol it was a good fight. Hopkins won clearly though even after being robbed of two knockdowns.

    hopkins clearly beat pascal in both fights, just as he clearly beat mercado in the first and taylor in the first.

    i think he beat calzaghe but can understand the counter argument.

    anyways to address the thread question, it wasn't close. hopkins again took him to school quite clearly.

    Hopkins won the fight. I had it 116-112. It should have been at least a point more, as that first KD sure looked legitimate to me. Also, the first fight was a lot closer due to the 2 KD's, one of which was questionable. After about the fourth round, Hopkins just took over in both fights. I don't think the history angle played a role in the scoring of the second fight as much as the scoring for the first fight did. There was a bit of an outcry about the officiating, whether warranted or not, for the first fight, and I feel this was constantly under consideration in Canada. Just my opinion.

    I think the word you're looking for is competitive. Winning the early rounds and putting forth some good effort in a few of the later rounds makes the fight competitive, but Hopkins dominated in the rounds he won.
