PBF shouldn't be fighting at 154, he never looked great there. With that said it seems like there's really no one left to fight. Bradley and Pac with Top Rank won't happen. JMM rematch JMM doesn't want it. Winner of the 140 tourney or Canelo is probably the best fight for him.

Yeah he looked the slowest ive seen him against Cotto, and I think the weight and 10oz gloves had a lot to do with it.

But I agree, he is thin on viable options. I think if he should get Canelo out the way next, before he gets even older.

  3. By everybody elses standards Floyd could/would be fighting at 140 maybe even 135, Broner is the same size if not bigger than Floyd.

If he fights at 154 again he'll fight Canelo. I think he'll make the decision on if he's going to 154 after he sees what he has left against Guerrero. I personally think he's small at the weight and only takes on smaller challengers at 154 for good reason.

People say Floyd fans don't want the fight because they don't want him tested.. But it's a difference in being tested by someones skill and being tested by someone being way bigger than you with skill. Not Floyd's fault he's head and shoulders above the competition weighing around the same as him, and it's funny hearing he has to fight someone who'll be 20+ pounds more than him on fight night or he's ducking. It's not someone who ONLY has size, as Canelo is far more skilled than Chavez Jr. or Margarito.

If you say Floyd should give up his titles at 154 if he doesn't want Canelo, I agree. I just don't think any other fighter would be labeled a ducker if they don't want to fight a skilled champion above their optimal weight, who'll be weighing 20+ pounds more than them on fight night. Him fighting anyone at 154 is a challenge in itself because he's not even weighing in at the full weight.. But now he needs to fight at 154 against someone who'll be 170+ on fight night AND is a good fighter at their optimal weight.

People can't deny Floyds not a true Jr. Middle Weight, and he's not at the age anymore where his body naturally can grown into that weight. He past his limit when comes to his body growing but I do believe he'll fight Canelo next, if he gets passed Guerrera.

  6. Won't happen. :bart

  7. just floyd haters know he cant lose at 147 so they want him to fight guys weighing in over 170lbs on fight day lol

That's a whole lot more reasonable and wouldn't argue with it.

Lots of useless excuses flying around when in reality Floyd would still beat the ginger. It's the tough and torturous process of winning that PBF may consider not worth it.
The other problem for Floyd accepting Canelo would be having the pressure to take on other or the rest of 154 division, assuming he wins.

  9. Floyd Haters didn't make him go get 2 belts at 154.

Any reasonable boxing fan wants a fighter to defend his titles against the best challengers... that's Canelo at 154.

He won all his fights there pretty comfortably. Besides, it's silly to not want to see the P4P best fight at a certain weight just because he doesn't look great there. This guy is an ATG, what's the point of watching him stay in his comfort zone all the time?

  11. Floyd will never beat Canelo. The style is all wrong.

    Key Points:

    1- Size
A good big man always beat a good little man. Canelo is 180 pounds on fight night. Floyd is 150. Riddick Bowe beat Herbie Hide and Vitali Klitschko beat Herbie Hide because Hide was not big enough. Hide's defensive abilities were on par with Floyd's but when he met the bigger man he went down.
Now mind you height is not in relevance to weight per factor. Which means that Canelo is 5'9 and Floyd is 5'7.. so the height is 2 inches BUT Canelo's overall body frame is much much bigger.

He's just a much bigger man as judge by the arm length and size bicep.

    2- Counter Punching.

Canelo is a much better counter puncher at this point in his career, there is no way Floyd can out punch his output to the point where Saul canelo will lose in a miniumized effort. Mayweather during his prime ( 130 days) could have beaten this version of Canelo if morphed into a 170 pound body. But you can't do that in boxing.. what we have here is a old floyd who's counter punching has fallen steadity every match.

3- Floyd is losing a step

Floyd lose 4-5 rounds against Cotto and struggled a lot. He was beaten up in spots and left bleeding. Trout dominated Cotto and dropped 2 rounds at most.

Canelo knocked Trout down and made Trout go on the defensive for the entire fight.

Trout was eating right hands all night and if Floyd ate those same right hands he will go down.

    4- Styles

Floyd never fought someone with the patience of canelo. The stalking caliber virtuosity of Canelo. What makes Saul great is his ability to hurt you WHILE stalking you.. in many ways he's a more skilled Carl Froch. The last time Floyd fought a stalker was against Castillo and he lost that fight. Floyd just no longer have the legs or the athletic ability to hang with someone much bigger and stronger than he is.

5- Changing of the Guards as an influnce to the judges
Boxing need changing of the Guards. Only on very rare occasions has a changing of the guards failed (Pavlik-Hopkins,Lewis-Klitschko_+ a few others) but the vast majority of the time changing of the guards went through. The new cash cow is Canelo and the judges know that. Even if Floyd somehow do better than expected.. he will lose against Canelo due to the judges anyways it's a pointless affair.

6-Great Defensive vs Great POINTS WINNING Defense.

This is a big factor. Floyd got great defense.. Canelo got great point winning defense. What is the difference?

Canelo's defense looks good to the crowd and win points...Floyd's defense is ultra effective but looks boring and mundane.. Canelo's defense showcase slickness+strength of caliber in body punching per sa something Floyd was NEVER able to emulate.

Here is Cotto and Floyd's defense on display

In reality Cotto missed.. but Floyd way of rolling still made it seem as if Cotto landed. Canelo's defense actually showcase himself DODGING the punches Trout threw.. Floyd's is just no longer as effective and Canelo will out defense him at every turn.

Final Predication if they ever fight:
    Canelo by late tko.

Besides the fact that 154 is his 5th weight class and far beyond his best weight which was IMO 130. Anything past 140 is just icing on the cake. PBF could have just stayed at 140 after moving up from 130 and 135 if he just wanted to stay in his comfort zone.:deal I'm not against the Canelo fight but I think the guys at 154 are too big for him since he's past his prime.

I don't know any real Mayweather fan that wouldn't want to see him go up and fight Canelo.
