    :patsch:patsch:patsch

    stupid idiot.

it is not the reach or the height but ultimately weight class which determines fighters matchups.

tyson was a 5'10 mother****er who fought against fighters as tall as 6'3'/62, with reach and height advantage.

i guess you did not see spinks getting pummeled in 93 seconds did you.

the point being, when duran fought srl, duran was a full welter. period.

don't make it as if duran was a 5'7 lightweight when srl fought him.

srl did have the height and reach advantage. but yeah, who won again.

by your stupid argument, all fights should have same weight, reach and height for it to be competitive.:rofl

If you don't want to give Buchanen or DeJesus credit at lightweight, you're wrong. Both of them had only 1 loss when Duran got around to them. And by the way,Duran was 21,in his 21st fight when he fought Ken,who was 26 and prime. And by the way, don't forget Ray Lampkin, who was very highly rated when he got ko'd by Duran. No on to Marcel. When Duran ko'd him,Duran was 128 and Marcel 129 1/2,career high weights for both at that point in Duran's 17th fight at 19 years old.Marcel was much more experienced than Duran then. That's the only ko loss in Marcel's career and only his 2nd or 3rd loss at that point. In his LAST FIGHT,Marcel beat 22 year-old Arguello in Alexis' 40th fight. And as much as I admire Alexis,Jim Watt or Ray Mancini better than DeJesus or Buchanen?Stop! No on to Mayweather and Pea.Can you name THEIR top opponents at 135?Pea's is either Floyd's uncle or Jose Luis Ramirez.NEITHER one of them is better than DeJesus or Buchanen. And just which lightweight on Mayweather's list matches up to Duran,or Buchanen,or DeJesus?Zippo.

You are truly a ****ing moron.Truly.If you are going to go on to this site and claim that Duran was a natural welterweight even though he spent 60 odd fights and 8 years at lightweight and below and that Leonard didn't have every single physical advantage over Duran by the time they fought, then it is beyond obvious that you haven't a ****ing clue about boxing,or have any basic logic or intelligence inside of you.You are an ******* and your idiotic nickname barely scratches the surface of your stupidity, you ****ing clueless imbecile.According to you logic,a smaller fighter moves up in weight and fights a naturally larger man,and the naturally larger man doesn't have an advantage because the smaller man weighs the same at that point? And no,I didn't claim,as your pea brain came up with, that all fights should have the same reach, weight and height for it to be competitive.I simply said that Leonard was naturally bigger and more talented at that point in their respective careers.Scatterbrain indeed, you ****ing *******.And by the way, jerkoff.Perhaps you're unaware that Spinks was a natural 175 pounder-lightheavyweight to you, brainless.

The win over Sugar Ray Leonard outside of his best weight division is not only better than anything on Manny Pacquiao's resume, it stands as the greatest victory in Boxing history as far as I'm and many credible sources are concerned. Likewise, Duran was also a weight jumping miracle, out-boxing and out-punching a 6'1 Iran Barkley in 1989, at the age of 38! All of that in addition to his complete dominance at 135lbs, beating great fighters like Buchanan and DeJesus, and sporting a greater skill set to the Filipino sensation, you have yourself a greater fighter in my judgment. It's common sense, really.

The man fought the bigger fighters in their weight-classes, and more often than not he bullied them, he didn't try and escape with a decision. Duran would do a serious job on Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, it's almost scary to think about it, whereas Iran Barkley would knock the snot out of Manny Pacquiao, as would Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, and Wilfred Benitez. :good

He did beat Sugar Ray Leonard, bullied him, in his own weight class during his prime years. Likewise, no former Lightweight in history has a chance in hell at beating Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler, the fact Duran even got in the ring with them is impressive, giving Hagler one of his tougher defenses. That's to his credit.

Because it was the way he dominated at Lightweight, and then continue to move up and beat elite fighters until he was like 38 years of age. Sure, he tasted defeat, but anyone who fights the opposition he fought are going to taste defeat. It was testament to the mans character that he could come back from a Hearns knockout to beat the WBC Middleweight champion of the world in 1989. Today, a fighter loses like that and everyone's shouting retirement. Duran is rated highly because of his versatility in the ring, his impecable record at Lightweight, his all-time great triumph over the second best Welterweight of all time, and the way he devastated Davey Moore, and further moved up to outbox 6'1 Barkley.

You've been told. Beating Buchanan, Dejesus x2, Leonard, Palamino, Moore, Barkley is a hell of a record when you consider the size disparity between all of those guys. Sure, Pacquiao can boast the same credentials, perhaps even a better resume as far as depth goes...but Duran beats every fighter on Pacquiao's resume, and the same cannot be said vice versa. That's not terribly important, but what is important is Duran's skills, his character, his top tier victories, and dominance at one weight division, the sort of dominance never displayed by Manny.
