He's lost twice. Against Calzaghe he put up a very good and competitive fight. Stayed on his feet after taking a hurtful shot to the solar plexus, and poured it on in the 12th, winning the round convincingly after losing the majority of the middle rounds. Against Ward he fought through several cuts and fouls and refused to quit despite being asked on more than one occasion. I don't believe he's shown any mental fragility in the ring.
its not his mental toughness but his ring intelligence that I question. I think he showed in the fight against Calzaghe and especially Ward that there is no quit in him no matter what.
He's tough but doesn't know how to counter(Calzaghe fight) or to fight in the inside(Ward fight). The guy is tough he could've quit against Ward but was reluctant to do so and I respect that.
Well he quit fighting for about 6 straight rounds against Calzaghe when Joe switched his tactics up, ala Judah against Mayweather. That would be a good place to start looking for answers.
not that he's weak mentally he just has a problem adapting when guys are doing things he doesn't fair well against, no plan b or c
Haven't really seen many people questioning his mental tougness. But judging from his performance vs Ward, some people claimed he was overated to begin with. And they do have a point, regardless of the fact that Mikkel is past his best.
He cant adapt. Which is a big part mental, plus training. He also allowed Ward to fluster him. He was swinging wide shots and should have been doing more on the inside.
there is absolutely NOTHING confusing about Froch's boxing ability... it will be purely a physical and mental toughness test.... I expect Kessler to pass with a beautiful display of textbook boxing.
this. if the fight is in the right style for kessler then hes a dangerous fight for most in the world because he hits hard and straight but make him change it up and show a few different ideas and adapt to his situation and he cant really do it. he took a pointless beating against ward (headbutts included) and showed a lot of stubborn heart in doing so. i couldnt make a case for questioning his mental toughness
