Foreman vs Ron Lyle is one of my favorite fights. I know he never won a world title but he started at the age of 30 and was in jail for 7 years. Yet he still put up some great fights.

One could only imagine how he would be if he was born in the current age and trained from a young age

Edit:messed up the topic title, what I wanted to say, why does nobody ever talk about Ron Lyle?

I was more impressed with Ron Lyle in that fight than I was with George Foreman. Lyle seemed to be the stronger of the two; he was actually making Foreman take backward steps in the fight, something that not many people have been able to do to Big George.
Ron Lyle was a big, strong, but limited guy. But he could be exciting to watch.

foreman-Lyle was a battle for the ages. People do talk about Ron Lyle. It's just that he never quite rose to the height of epic warrior that he attained for the Foreman bout. I think he's gotten plenty of notice and credit for being the hard hitting, honest warrior that he was.

Though he might have got a little help from the ref....he ko'ed Shavers in his career.

Too bad Lyle nor Shavers got a shot at Frazier.

Why do people speak of Foreman Lyle; that's the important part. Why do we do we speak of Foreman Lyle. The answer is because its a great fight. But why is it a great fight? The answer; is one of Ron Lyle?; is a question, as well.as an answer. Foreman surely deserves our division but what of the other 'one'. What of Ron Lyle?
