Ah the great baptism of landing 8 jabs per round in a stinker. Were all pumped for it. I love Fury and think he's great for the sport but Joshua isn't Wilder
He loses to Fury and Wilder and probably Usyk, Joyce and Hrgovic. Ruiz Jnr minus 50lb also. On that basis he is overrated.
It is true. He's beaten Joseph Parker, Dillian Whyte, Alexander Povetkin, Wladimir Klitschko, and Kubrat Pulev. 3 of those fighters were old but Alexander povetkin as we've seen in 2020 was still skilled and dangerous when Joshua fought him and Kubrat Pulev beat Dereck Chisora and Hughie Fury which puts him in a top 10 spot. Andy Ruiz is also skilled as he went toe to toe with Joseph Parker for a world title and lost in a slim majority decision
Hes not overrated imo. Hes skillful, he can boxe better than many others. Hes got right hand, uppercut, combos, stamina, timing and IQ ring. His only weak point are his suspect recoveries if punched. However..not an unstoppable fighter but very hard to beat for everyone.
The Povetkin who fought AJ would knock Wilder out in 5 rounds. Awful awful style matchup. Said it for years Povetkin would ice Wilder and Wilder and his team were so happy to get out of that mandatory.
I have him at #2 behind Fury right now. Who TF could you possibly rate above Joshua other than Fury? And, as some point out, AJ's resume is arguably better than Fury's.
I also believe Povetkin would be the most difficult opponent for Wilder bar Fury and AJ. His pressure and punching is definitely quicker than Ortiz's. Even now I don't think Wilder would fancy him if he gets by Whyte.
That Povetkin was still a good bit slower than prime. I don't see him stopping Wilder and he would.probably run into one like Ortiz.did twice. Not sure Joshua stops Ortiz btw. A tougher ask than Pulev and bigger punch.
Ortiz is not very good. He’s quite slow and he isn’t actually as powerful as people make him put to be. His power looks great against poor opposition with no defence. He’s also a magnet for a right hand as @Serge likes to say. AJ deals with him, similar to how he dealt with Pulev but quicker because Ortiz hasn’t got half the chin Pulev has.
Same as I see it. The fights with Fury will show just how good he is, but I've liked what I've seen so far for the most part. If he gets by Fury, Usyk should be next if he doesn't slip up somewhere. I'd like to for Usyk to put in a really impressive performance against a good opponent to show he realy has something at HW. Chisora might have been a stylistically difficult match-up, but it all felt a bit "meh". Of the ones I'd like to see Usyk against, Parker looks the most likely. Wilder must really show that Fury didn't mentally and physically finish him before he becomes an interesting contender again. Ruiz has all the talent in the world, but lacks in dedication and also has something to prove. These guys, and Whyte if he gets past Povetkin, would be the most interesting ones for 2022-23, depending on how they fare before that, AJ if he gets past Fury. Ot for Fury, for that matter, if he beats AJ.
What, a few Aj fanboys talk about him like he's a future great? Hell, most I see here don't even mention him as a future ATG. Most here realize what he is, and that's arguably a top 2 HW. And sure, he's hit a road block along the way. What HW ATG hasn't?
You sound like a noob. You think you cant do what you just did to practically every single fighters record? You bring up Povetkin, Whyte and Ruiz. Oh you mean top contenders? The guys the other top heavies (Fury and Wilder) arent even fighting? The guys not even rated that highly so not even sure what youre talking about. Hes looked at as a top 3 heavy... nothing more, by most people. Fury is expected to trounce him. Stupid thread.
