They offered Honeyhan $300,000 to rematch Curry at jr.mdiddle.
This was AFTER Honeyhan had lost his title.
    Honeyghan DECLINED.
Curry wasn't right vs Honeyghan. Even during the fight Gorman is saying your not yourself Donald in between rounds. And Gorman was a no BS guy.

Donald Curry stated himself last year ... "I didn't even want to fight the guy. I was just coming off the biggest fight of my career ... I wanted to progress in the game. And you progress in the game by fighting tough guys. After fighting Milton McCrory and knocking him out, there wasn't really another name yet in the weight division that would make me better. Nobody knew Lloyd Honeyghan. His name wasn't big enough. I lost a little motivation, because who knew this guy? I wanted progress. Let me fight Sugar. Let me fight Tommy Hearns. And I lost a lot of motivation and THAT'S WHY I GOT BEAT." (Around the six minute mark he adds) "Everybody thought that was the problem, the weight division. But it wasn't. That was a horrible time. A time I want to forget."

Once again, Curry not only made weight he came in under the weight limit. He didn't come in heavy. He didn't come in overweight the first time he stepped on the scale and have to go back and sweat off more weight. He didn't lose the titles on the scales and the belts were only on the line for Honeyghan.

Curry defended his titles. Curry lost. He left the division with no belts.

Can we move past the "he couldn't make weight garbage" now? Finally, 34 freaking years later and just talk about their actual records?

Imagine Donald Curry himself saying the weight division wasn't the problem and he got beat because he wasn't motivated to fight Honeyghan.

Anyone can see from the 1st minute (like ali-holmes) Curry didnt look right. Whether it was weight (and youve done a good job proving that may just have been a managerial excuse at the time) or the close relative dying, problems with Gorman,or cocaine as is rumoured but unproven) ...Curry didnt look right...no reflexes...couldnt be bothered to throw punches

I have no proof but i strongly suspect drugs derailed Currys career so alarmingly as they did pryor and any number of American heavyweights.

Curry is one of these understated humble guys...what he was saying during 1987-91 was different to what hes saying now

I'm sure being a Wilder fan you're unaware of humility, and people who didn't want to make excuses.

I think that Donald Curry was intimidated by Lloyd Honeyghan, and he was looking past Lloyd to get to Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

Yes Richard .Lloyd himself was an underrated guy with a suprising skillset

Thats what i miss about boxing these days...where are the unknown guys like honeyghan & mayorga who cause a shock on the world scene and dominate for a while....where are the tough Aussies like jeff harding and Fenech....wheres the next great phillipino...another mexican to chalkenge canelo?......the uk scene has 2 great HWs and 6-7 other guys the rest are Skys overhyped unintriguing drones not 1 froch, 1 mcguigan, 1 nigel benn amongst them

This is nearly as good as the Chang-Golovkin thread.

Imagine a fighter saying everyone thought it was the weight, but it wasn't. I got beat because I wasn't motivated to fight. My opponent wasn't a big name. I wanted big names. And I got beat.

And people who weren't even alive then typing on a message board say, I heard he had weight issues and he couldn't make the weight. That's what happened.

And you respond that the fighter came in under weight, lighter than he had for his other defenses. And the fighter himself says the weight division wasn't the problem. He just wasn't motivated to fight a boxer nobody knew.

And a teenager who has just been here for days trolling responds with garbage like Don King had sex with your mom.

This site sucks. I am done.

If that's all it takes we should have thought of it on page one.
