Why do people say Cotto's chin is better at WW?

People are seriously forgetting Cotto being "stunned" by the all powerful Paulie Malignaggi, and no I'm not bullshiting you and that fight was at 140. It was late in the fight, not sure which round

any boxer who continually fights competitive, world class, or great fighters enough will eventually get rocked if not dropped....especially if you're a in-fighter

 

Cotto has a good chin,that's all

 

The punch that Zab caught him with could have dropped anyone, the uppercut landed FLUSH with Cotto kneeling down right on it and still Cotto was buzzed but took it without even coming close to going down.

Mosley rocked him but then again Mosley landed A LOT more earlier and Cotto took them without even being hurt, he only got hurt late from a punch he didn't see coming and was just stunned, recovered from it quickly too. If he was seriously hurt he could have been TKO'd or even dropped at least but that wasn't the case, not even close.

The Margarito fight Cotto took uppercuts he was kneeling down on ALL night, not to forget the straight right hands and Cotto was able to take them at some times without even being stunned, he was stunned a few times but after taking A LOT many thought he would be stunned immediately from if not KO'd or knocked down at least. His TKO was more a case of being completely exhausted and having nothing in return to offer, it wasn't a one punch type of knockdown, it was him taking a knee twice because he had nothing left to offer.

So yes, his chin is pretty good based on the fights you mentioned.

 

His chin is average. Not glass, not granite.

 

Zab stunned him with a uppercut, just as he stunned Tszyu twice in the 1st round of their fight and Mayweather in 4th round of their fight.

Mosley never hurt him.

Margarito wore him down and stopped him on accumulation.

That's bull****. They collided knees and Malignaggi landed a punch while Cotto was off balance. Even George Foreman said it was "..more off balance than anything...but the crowd made it something."

Cotto will always have a suspect chin and will always have trouble taking punishment. He was hurt and stunned several times against Margo before submitting. Mosley had him hurt a couple of times, Zab rocked him as well. He doesn't have a glass, however he does have some punch resistence issues. His other skills do help make up for that though.

 

I agree it was like the mayweather - hatton fight, where hatton hit an off balance mayweather and the crowd made more of it than what they should have done

 

Cotto's chin is good but on that night no chin could have handled that Terminator Margarito

 

the tko he suffered to margarito was not from his but from exhaustion

 

Love Mosley, but I'd argue that his power is overstated - he hits his opponents on the ears and temples and screws up their equilibrium.
