Why do people say Floyd's never been in one of "those" fights?

You know, the type of fight where a fighter has to dig deep to win or must respond to adversity during a crisis. Or just generally a really exciting fight. Floyd's been in some pretty tough fights. The jesus chavez fight was really good, very exciting and a fight where floyd beat chavez at his own game, on the inside. Seriously, watch some of the exchanges floyd and chavez dish out. The n'dou and corely fights were really exciting as well, showing off floyd's knack for fighting off the ropes.

The jose luis castillo fight had floyd up early, but to castillo's credit he made an adjustment and floyd was being taken out of the fight. However, instead of letting the fight slip away mayweather responded with his own adjustments, taking the fight to castillo in the later rounds and fighting on the inside with him. The fight as a whole is generally underrated too i feel. As for who won, even if you had castillo winning, floyd deserves credit for coming back like a true champion and giving him an immediate rematch, beating castillo convincingly this time around.

Floyd was rocked real good by shane in their fight, and hatton had him off balance and out of the sorts in the early rounds too. Both times mayweather responded to the adversity in kind, slowly responding and then finally dominating. Im not saying that floyd has had an "ali-frazier" but the man has been in some exciting fights and he has responded well to everything difficult that's been thrown at him

I agree with ya man. Some of these guys just like to generalize or haven't seen enough of Floyd to make a fair adjustment.

He's just never gone up against a threat that constantly has him working hard to win rounds with a constant threat of losing the round or the fight. Castillo counts, but a lot of people, including myself, think he lost that one. Momentary glimpses of vulnerability are almost always apparent early on, and then, for whatever reasons you may pick as a supporter or a critic, he easily wins on an efficient but low output.

Floyd Mayweather has been in many toe to toe battles throughout his careers. He is notorious for fighting South Paws in an aggressive stance.

The thing with Mayweather is, once he goes aggressive, his opponents usually wilt. Or the opponent cant hit him even when he does fight in the pocket.

Mayweather is the definition of versatility. You have some boxing fans that cant appreciate these sort of qualities in a boxer im afraid.

It's called "hard knock schooling". Floyd makes A-level fighters look like c-levels

Yeah people like to just focus on the 3 fights where Floyd stayed on the outside and pot shotted rather than the rest if his career which offered exciting fights. Some will argue that the JMM and Mosley fights were boring but I found Floyds outright dominance in both performances super exciting as well.

He's going to need to stay off the forum for weeks equivalent to how ever many rounds Marquez wins against manny in order to regain his senses.

To be fair, Floyd CHEATED the scales during his match with JMM. Let's wait if Pac will CHEAT too. Also, Pac and JMM are almost equal in weight come fight night. I don't know with Mayweather because he doesn't want his fight night weight to be officially shown.

yeah I guess you are right. If Floyd had not cheated the scales Marquez would have landed more than 12% of his punches

That's not the point. But if you wanna talk about that, I can also say that to some haters that 2 lbs catchweight for Pac vs Cotto matters. Remember, that was the first catchweight for Pac but they already called him the catchweight king back then. So which one is it, will 2 lbs be significant or not?
