Why do people say Floyd's never been in one of "those" fights?

Well, Pac was stripped of a flyweight title for coming in over weight. So peope need to stop bitching about Floyd. It was a WW fight, it should have been at 147 not 144.

You're using Marquez is your example? Please. Floyd was out 21 months before getting in the ring with JMM (#3 P4P)

This tread is about "tough fights" on Floyd's end. See above post for examples

I personally don't think Floyd has been "challenged" as much as other fighters. I see his skillset far too match for any current fighters today. Just my 2cent

Yeah, they should stop bitching about Pac vs JMM III too. It's a WW fight, it must be at 147 not 144. :good

people are just haters man. you can't do anything with them. i only thought his fight with oscar was boring. but to some people, one boring fight makes you a boring fighter. glad i saw mosley vs pac online and didn't pay for that piece of ****. i guess pacquiao's a boring fighter too? or is there another double standard?

Leave it up to pac fans to derail this thread... anyway people are bringing up the point that he's far too skilled against other fighters... how exactly is that supposed to hurt his legacy?? If anything mayweather should be praised for not being in many knock down drag out fights, his ability to figure out and dominate opponents is truly a sight to see. However, thats not to say that he hasn't been in those fights. Just look at that chavez fight posted. There's some serious leather being thrown there.

Another thing that's overlooked with floyd is his ability to fight the other guys fight and still come out on top. He went toe to toe with castillo in the later rounds when castillo was clearly the bigger man. Chavez and hatton tried to pressure him to death and rough him up, but in the end it was mayweather that came out nearly unscathed. He came right at shane mosley and dissected him easily with a strategy that before the fight people would favor mosley to fair better in.

Floyd didnt get a boring fighter tag until he fought Baldomir and DLH gave Mayweather the "boring" fighter tag.

Plus Hattons when he fought Castillo "You saw more value for money in 4 rounds then Floyds entire career"

Before that I doubt anyone was calling Floyd a boring fighter.

That is a myth that Floyd has never been in a tough fight.

In that case I don't think it had much effect, but believe me there is always an effect no matter how minimal. There's a reason Cotto weighed in at 146 for Clottey. It's because making weight is difficult as it is, and some fighters barely scrape by.

I don't know if you've read Sugar Ray Leonard's autobiography, but somewhere in there he mentions how every pound makes a difference.

I do agree with your statement however, catchweight or no the outcome of that fight wouldn't have been any different.

As far as the OP's post go, I agree with every word. Many people recently have tuned into boxing because of Pacquiao and Mayweather, often forgetting their earlier fights in which both had to fight through adversity. People say Floyd has no heart. I disagree. He has more heart than many fighters out there. It's just that his skills are so superior to most of his opponents of late that he hasn't had to display it to the extent of satisfying the critics.

Not only is his heart underrated, but his durability is too. I know he's prolonged his career by not fighting that much anymore, but to still be at the top of his game after being considered elite for going on 13 years is incredible. Think about that, how many fighters have been at the top for so long? He's been elite since michael jordan retired from the chicago bulls. Only officially being knocked down once (not even a real knockdown, just glove touching canvas) shows that he's got a chin. Seriously, i don't know how he survived not getting knocked down against shane in that second round.
