Moorer's chin wasn't glass, but it wasn't great either. He did take some bombs in his career and showed toughness in fights with Stewart, Cooper, and others. The guy had guts and toughness and had a speedy and powerful blow. But he could be stunned and dropped by solid blows. He usually got up, though. He was basically a very talented and powerful lightheavyweight who was good enough to move up to heavy and beat a lot of guys, but because he was not a truly natural heavy, he wasn't going to be able to absorb the blows from the very best at their best. All that said, let's face it, he did only get stopped three times in his career. So let's not get carried away. If you can win several championship belts and fight some really tough cookies, and only get stopped three times in a career of 57 pro bouts, your chin isn't glass. Keep in mind also, the guy turned pro in 1988 and he fought until 2008. That's 20 years. Not bad.
He was a light heavyweight getting hit by heavyweights. 175ers don't have a great track record of being able to simply cop a heavyweight shot.
Moorer did have very questionable punch resistance at heavyweight, he was brutally knocked out by Tua and Foreman which i guess you could excuse but Holyfield knocked him down on numerous occasions and Bert Cooper put him down twice so he was definitely vunerable. It probably had something to do with him coming up from the Light Heavyweight division, he was at one time a mere 12.5 stone and was then facing guys some 4 stone heavier and i guess something would have to give

He may not have had a full-blown glass jaw, but if you're going to argue that he wasn't chinny then I have a bridge to sell you.
He had a good chin at 175 lbs We missed out on some significant wars when he moved up. At least we got the Cooper/Moorer war at heavyweight. Many of his heavyweight fights bordered on snoozefests.
Moorer in his interviews comes across as a guy with attitude issues, "I know it all" type, it was his ego which cost him the Foreman fight. Teddy Atlas (no all time great trainer himself, a complete jerk infact) but even he was imploring with Moorer to not stand in front of George and not to disrespect his power, rest is History.
Yeah, no kidding. If Michael Moorer didn't have a glass jaw, then they really don't exist.atsch Seriously, he visited the canvas many times and was KTFO twice. That's basically the definition of a glass jaw, period.:deal
Maybe not a total glass chin, but Moorer, like Ken Norton, didn't fare too well against big men who were big punchers. I saw that quick KO loss to Tua coming a mile away. Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson would have blown him out early, too.
I say that he had slightly better chin than norton or even, joe louis did not have better chin than him....(yes yes max baer blablaba, but he got stopped by schmeling and lessers punchers dropped him,i cant see schmeling stopping moorer) in fact moorer beats schmeling clearly.i f tua or foreman landed on louis good night irene Also some idiots talk about bert cooper like he was not a big puncher.. oliver mc call said that cooper did hit harder than tyson
He had a habit of being knocked down, Everett Martin decked him, Cooper twice & Holyfield five times, his knockout defeats at the hands of Foreman, Holyfield & Tua confirmed what we suspected all along, Moorer did indeed have a weak chin.
