I can buy his 147 belt and call him a 7 division champ, but the circumstances around how he got his "154" belt is a big joke

 

Same reason people call Hearns and Leonard 5 division champs, De La Hoya a 6 divisiion champ. They won major championship titles in those divisions, even if some of them were dodgy or vacant titles.

No-one counts the IBO belt. Pacquiao won the Ring belt when he beat Hatton. The one you are missing is the Ring featherweight title when he beat Barrera. Ring belts in today's climate are worth more than the paper sanctioning body belts.

DLH has WBO belts from when the WBO was not rated a major title by anyone. They were worth as much as an IBO belt today. But hey, if you want to retrospectively call Damiani a heavyweight champion when Tyson was Undisputed, go ahead. And the one against Sturm was an outrageous robbery. Calling De La Hoya middleweight champion is just as ridiculous as calling Pacquiao a jr middleweight champion.

As for catchweight belts, are you serious? Leonard won a LHW belt at a 167 catchweight, which he immediately gave up, and he picked up a vacant SMW belt on the same night. He defended his SMW belt at MW catchweights. You have to be kidding if you think Pacquiao's Ring titles and a vacant JMW belt at a catchweight should not count as major titles but Leonard's should.

And Hearns is not a 7 division champ, don't be ridiculous. Two of his legit titles can be **** on like you're shitting on Pac's. He won a vacant WBO SMW belt against James Kinchen,which would've been worthless at the time (late 80s), and he won a vacant MW belt vs Roldan. I like Roldan, gave Hagler a great fight, but he was never champion in any division, neither was Kinchen. Margarito atleast was a 3-time WW champion with many defences. Hearns lost KO3 by Barkley in his first defence, and in his previous title fight at MW was KO'd in 3 by Hagler.

Ring>WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF, in my book, and the books of many others. BHOP was a two-division champion before the Pascal fight, for instance, and I don't see much argument to the contrary. Sergio Martinez is the champion, and we and Ring all know it, but yet he only currently holds their belt, as another for instance. It is a world title belt, has been worn by most of the greatest fighters to fight while they've been awarding it, and proudly so. The fighters know it, the historians know it, the television networks know it.

because pacman is the best.. he has done more than any fighter in the past 30 years. Gayweather is a nobody, he is so lucky he didnt fight Pac in 09, when he peaked... Pacman was green against Marquez, hit his prime after marquez, and now is on a decline after marquez again. and gayweather knows it, that ***git.

Pacman is the first in history to hold belts in 8 divisions... he surpasses Henry Armstrong and would no doubt beat him.

 

The Ring belt is a more credible belt than any other.

 

It could have been 10 divisions if he did not skip the 115 and 118 pounds.
