Why do people say that Pacquiao is faster than Mayweather?

I seen alot of each fighter and I think its clear that Mayweather is faster. In a poll asking, who throws more punches in combinations, then yea Manny, but as far as how long does it take for the punch to get from point A to point B, Mayweather is faster IMO. And although Mayweather has slowed down a little since moving to 147(cause if it was a prime for prime speed, I think Floyd is WAAYY faster), so has Pacquiao. Thats like saying Calzaghe is faster than Jones cause he is in better shape and throws flashy flurries. Can anyone show me any footage of super speed by Pacquiao or is it that everyones on the bandwagon cause of his recent success and great victories?

    1. It was heavybag footage not shadowboxing.
    2. What difference does it make, you asked to see his speed. :huh

one reason is the reaction of two guys who fought both fighters...Hatton and DLH...both men stated that they got hit with punches they never saw coming. Hatton obviously got knocked out with a punch he didn't see coming against Mayweather, but it looked more like an accumulation of punches against a tired and beatdown Ricky Hatton.

i think its an illusion with a combination of speed, angles, and volume...

    hard to deal with

Speed on a bag and against an opponent are completely different.

See how you used the IMO...other people have differing opinions. Thus, they think Manny is faster. so that answers the initial question. As for evidence: Apart from taking hours of footage, and viewing punches frame by frame to calculate an average...there's no conclusive way to find this out, because they are both really really fast.

There's no clarity in what you're saying, just bias. They're both fast.

No it's not. The speed you jab a bag will be the speed you jab an opponent, pretty simple stuff.

I think Manny is faster, but Floyd in more precise with his punches, throwing punches with little openings
