Why do people say Tyson was visibly out of shape against Douglas?

Tyson style and giving up so much reach would effect him morewe than a 6'4 fighter with an 83 inch reach,Douglas does not have to have pin point accurate iif hes fighting from the outside,Tyson would need that specifically if hes not even 90% fighting a very good fighter that night is going to be difficult if Tyson does not close the show early..you just lack the ability for any common sense that even herol is making more sense than you.....:yikes

An addict of what ? When ? At the Berbick fight ?
    "any measure" ... really ?

I'm surprised they let him out of the rehab clinic to fight 12 times in 1986, or that he could drag himself off of Richard Pryor's couch to arrive in time for the fights.

How is this bul****? I have read it from multiple sources.

Do you just run from facts that do not fit your narrative?

I don't doubt that he had an STD. I think Jose Torres mentioned that in his 1989 book. Jose Torres also mentioned Tyson's sadistic s*exual preferences, loving to hurt women and see them bleed.
Torres was slammed for that book by Tyson and lots of people around Tyson.

The claims that Tyson was a "drug addict all along" are just BS made up by Tyson to diminish some of his responsibility for things he did, and to explain his actual cocaine habit he formed years later.
NOBODY close to Tyson in the 1980s remembers Tyson as a drug fiend, simply because he wasn't.
Torres never mentions it, Givens never used "druggie" against him either. Steve Lott has categorically stated that, as far as he's concerned, it is untrue.

Do Peter Heller or Jose Torres ring a bell?

Or should I take the word of the much more authoritative posters on this site?

Yet, they all said that when he got loose from camp or the oversight of his handlers, he was already an epic boozer. That personality only led to his very real coke problem after prison. Remember, this is the guy who tried to kill himself in 1988. He was already coming off the rails.

Again, none of this forgives Tyson from losing to Douglas. To paraphrase Yogi Berra , 90% percent of the game is mental, the other half is physical... He was a mental wreck. It caught up to him. That is a factor that always must be considered when examining his career or proposing mythical match-ups.

You talk as though personal demons and dark times are exclusive to Mike Tyson...... I feel sorry for the poor soul I really do...

Yes, he was a nutcase... beyond Oliver McCall level. I don't think anyone who worked with him would ever say different.

You seem willfully ignorant of all evidence and all commentary from the multiple teams who worked with him. This thread is no longer about Tyson, it is about some personally born narrative you hope to will into truth. I hope these threads are helping you work out some issues.

Didn't Tyson's ear get infected after a fight, and he had to go to the hospital to get it treated?

Think you're getting two things mixed up. First it was Evander Holyfield, secondly his ear got ingested.....
