I'm not a Winky fan either, but ya, Winky beats everbody except Pavlik and Abraham at 160. He should have got his ass back in the ring a couple times after the loss to Hopkins, and earned the right to fight one of them. Maybe then he would have that final big pay day I think he is looking for.

No problem man. I'm relatively neutral towards Winky. I find his style a bit boring like others but at the same time appreciate his technical ability so it sort of cancels out. :)

I personally think can beat anybody at 160. Pavlik has the best shot based on his reach and work rate so he might outwork him to a UD, Winky's defense is too good and his chin too solid to get knocked out though.

Abraham struggles with boxers, Elvin Ayala for example was beating him before he got careless and KO'd in the 12th. Again although Abraham has great power, and I'm a AA fan, Winky's defense is too good, his chin too solid. He would constantly be getting out of range of Abraham's hooks like Ayala did, but not running so much in the process. :D

Ya -- Winky might beat AA. For a long time I was undecided about who owned the #2 spot at 160: Winky or AA. Now I think Winky has made himself irrelevant. He did pretty much the same thing Calzaghe did; talked endlessly about fighting Pavlik, but turned it down when it was offered. Only Winky gets a lot less flack over it.

Winky should have done what Roy did. Go back to the drawing board, and WORK your way back into the spot light. Look where Roy is now compared to Winky Wright. Roy is headed for a huge pay day, and Winky is still sittin' on the side lines bitchin'!

Just a month or 2 ago, people here voted him the most avoided fighter in boxing.

I would like some of those people to explain how he is so avoided.

Why are we still talking about Winky? He is avoided until certain extent if you ask me. The main reason is that he is a southpaw with great defense & granite chin either you win/loose or draw with this guy, most likely you will look horrible in the fight. Basically, to me, those are the main ingredients of to why he is "avoided"

On the other hand, part of his inactivity it's entirely his fault. He is not a big draw to the crowd and he demands too much $$$ for his fights. Anyway, I think he needs to SFU and fight someone soon before he gets too old.
