Why do people seem to hold the Cockell fight against Marciano?

yes one spot behind valdes but valdes in light of all his losses to known fighters was harder to sell than cockell who was the highest ranked fighter without recent loss to a top heavyweight. valdes lost to moore again on may 2nd 1955 and marciano beat cockell on may the 16th 1955 so by the time cockell met marciano valdes had already blown his two year win streak.

the best thing we can do for Don Cockell here is to back up a few years and a few pounds... Don hasn't got glandular problems, he's still a fit & ripe L-HW, who & when does he fight and can he win the world L-HW title?

a lot of people thought he could have.
