Dangerous? Hopkins is 49 years old, he literally has nothing to lose. Its not like hes going to get hurt, hes too crafty and defensive for that. Its not like hes going to ruin future opportunities. The guy maybe has 2-3 fights left TOPS
Because BHop has a history of exposing slow powerpunchers. You say it's a dangerous fight, but people said exactly the same thing before BHop fought Antonio Tarver, Jean Pascal, Kelly Pavlik, Tavoris Cloud and Tito Trinidad. Hopkins will school him. Trust me. He's old but that just means he's wiser and smarter.
If Hopkins was to fight another champion besides Shumenov, Stevenson would be the pick. They are now on the same network, and while Stevenson is a murderous puncher, he is only murderous with his left hand. That's the kind of technical flaw that Hopkins has specialized in exploiting over the years. All that said, I don't think Hopkins wants to fight any more murderous punchers at this point in his career. After the Shumenov fight, I think B-Hop goes for Froch(assuming Froch beats Groves). Froch has plenty of technical flaws, would be moving up in weight, coming off two hard fights, and isn't a huge puncher in any case.
So we can get closer to having an undisputed light hw champ. Plus as a previous poster said outside his power he has a lot of technical flaws that Hopkins could exploit .
Good post:good And you forgot to mention that Stevenson is packing glass. Don George was hurting him and taking his power for 12 rds before he finally gassed and got stopped. NTM...we all know how Darnell Boone caught him and KHTFO. Bhop is a master of distance. Stevenson expends a lot of energy trying to stay outside and away from a R hand. He knows he's toast if he's caught in combination, so he'll run like hell from Bhop who will inevitably find a way inside and KHTFO. Just pissed that BHop will be the one to push his shiit in.......was so hoping it would be KOvalev to pop that cherry.:yep
Nobodies beating KOvalev. Not a prime Roidnard, not a prime Calslappy, not a prime Roid Jones Jr, not a catch-weight Andre Roid.nono:nono
Ummm....if his goal was to unify and become undisputed, why would he walk away from a GUARANTEED unification fight with KOvalev? I might be a stupid f uc k i n g c un t........but at least I aint the definition of IGNORANT, and I aint a chickenshiit puussy@ss beech like superbiitch.
Cause B-Hop Aint.. (•_• ( •_•>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■ Never Scared
I'm not so sure it's a foregone conclusion that this Hopkins beats Shumenov the way everyone's assuming he's going to. It's not exactly the walkover Adonis-Fonfara looks to be.
I don't think he will. But the old man has surprised me plenty before. He's very adept at picking opponents in his latter years. I think he fights who he can beat. Murat, Cloud, Shu, Pascal.......all different animal than Stevenson or Kovalev. That's not to say he's afraid of them, but he knows his next loss is probably his last.
