Why do people think Jack Dempsey is so good? He isn't

Normally this argument might hold weight but Dempsey's bread and butter was winning fights early. If ever a guy was designed for a four rounder it was Dempsey. A guy cant have it both ways. He cant be considered one of the greatest short distance fighters in history and then use the excuse that he ran out of time against a fat guy who turned pro at 98 pounds at the end of four rounds.

It has to be thought that the 4 round bouts might have held less weight politicaly.

Nobody was arguing for Meehan to face Fred Fulton, instead of Dempsey.

Either way, how could you not admire Meehan?

 

And dont forget Elroy would have most definitely thrown Wlad in our faces...
