Why do people think Marciano had such a great chin?

Apologies on that one HeGrant but you've already made tenfold statements as ridiculous as that one anyway - but apologies if it wasn't you that made that particular - but you have already destroyed any credibility you might have with me already prior to me reading that thing anyway - my point in general though is that threads like this are clearly a joke - and only set up to start arguements between haters and genuine boxing fans

Look, we've already established that it's possible you don't always read carefully before you accuse. It's also quite possible that with a name like RockySplitNose you might not be totally unemotional when it comes to the topic of Marciano. I challenge you to specifically quote full passages, not tailored fragments, that solidify your claim that I'm a Rocky hater. If you don't , you have no credibility. That being said I give you credit for at least acknowledging your mistake, something another unbiased Marciano fan named SQ lacks the maturity to do ..

I really can't be bothered - all I know is if I didn't have such a problem with say, Marciano, I certainly wouldn't be going to all the effort of your extensive posts about how he's not got that great a chin (when he has been renowned down through the years for the toughness of his chin) - the easier thing for you todo would be just to say outright - no I'm not a Marciano hater - that would be easier :good

I agree. We don't know if it was at that level. But we can only judge by what we saw it withstand, which was pretty impressive.

A lot of opponents Tyson whalloped had been pretty solid up until they fought him. An elite puncher tests a chin in a way that most fighters don't. That's why guys like Ali and Chuvalo are so highly rated in the chin department.

Marciano's chin was clearly very good, but not tested enough to be considered definitely elite.
