he threw more punches in the later rounds than most HWs, all his 12 round fights he won, he has many late round stoppages.

People assume tyson had stamina issues because of his ripped physique this isnt the case.

Tyson was known for his good workrate even in the later rounds.

The first time Tyson showed any stamina issues was against Holyfield in '96. Even then he went 11 rounds, despite huffing and puffing from round 4 onwards.

Since 91 hed boxed a total of 7 incomplete rounds in 5 years. (due to his prison sentence).

    Does he?

But I agree overall. I don't associate Tyson with stamina issues.

No, he said he had asthma and was happy alot of his fights were over quickly, he didn't say he had bad stamina.

When you don't train properly stamina is the first thing to go and it's pretty universally accepted he stopped training properly pre 1990. In his book he also mentioned that later in his career he could no longer go "8 hard rounds" which implies that's what he was capable of at his best. Also he doesn't have any KOs post round 6.

I think he often just got frustrated when he couldnt finish someone early.

Because his punch stats clearly shows a huge drop after the first rounds, and because it was easy to see that he passed the second half the fight hanging from his opponent's arms in his peculiar hanged clinch.

Because your punch stats = stamina.

Most of the people that think Tyson had stamina issues are the people that never watched him fight in his prime and only starting watching him after he came out of prison. Prime Tyson had serious stamina and continuously proved it. If he lacked stamina in his prime, Ruddock would've absolutely destroyed him late in the fight.

He did not have stamina issues.
He just had a bad habit of becoming predictable and one-dimensional as fights progressed. As someone else noted, he was prone to get frustrated.
Still it was good enough to outpoint Smith, Tucker, Ruddock over the 12-round distance.

Didn't he say in his book "Undisputed" that when he was a baby he was in the hospital a lot for breathing problems?

I don't think he had stamina issues. He wasn't the best conditioned Heavyweight.

But heavyweights only have so much in the tank. When you have that much muscle it's hard to get all the oxygen needed to the body.

It's heavyweight boxing. Guys that size can't go out there with their hair on fire and just punch and punch and punch.

His stamina was fine, but given his impetuous fighting style, his defense became more pregnable as the fight progressed.

Head movement slowed, combos slowed. Which is to be expected. It's perfectly normal to fade.

People probably assume his stamina is bad becasue he finished people so fast. Same way if your defense is too good, people think you must be hiding a glass chin.
