Curtis Stevens is an ORDINARY FIGHTER who got outpointed by Jesse Brinkley and got knocked out by Marco Primera.

Does anyone honestly believe that Stevens has any chance at all against Golovkin? Yes, Stevens hits pretty hard, but Golovkin has shown that he has a great chin, whereas Stevens has shown us he can be knocked out.

Both guys have power, so it would be a chin contest and a skill contest. Golovkin has a much better chin and has much better overall skills (including defense).

Why isn't anyone calling for Golvkin vs Chavez??? JCC Jr has a great chin, he's big, and could stand up to Golovkin's bullying. That would be a great fight.

Martinez vs Golovkin would also be a great fight but we know that Martinez has been ducking GGG for years and we don't expect him to suddenly give Golovkin a shot at his paper title.

Golovkin would knock out Stevens in one or two rounds: useless fight.

because Chavez is due to fight Vera, and Stevens is one of the few actually willing to fight Golovkin

nothing more than a stay-busy fight for GG

What's not to like? The fight will sell. 2 big KO artists. Everyone will want to see how GGG stands up to someone who can bang, who (at least on paper) brings a genuine risk.

I don't think Showtime's really chinny either, he was KOed once, 7 years ago at 168. Course, any time he's stepped in with someone who can box, he's lost, but just the chance of a flash KO will make the fight exciting as long as it lasts.

Anyway, if GGG still wants to fight 2 more times this year, who's he supposed to fight?

The only guys who aren't injured (Martinez) contractually restricted (Quillin) or already scheduled in the top 15 or so are Rubio and Andy Lee. TBH I would prefer a showcase with Showtime, 'cos a lotta people will be really high on him after last night. Not only that but the event will be summit special if it's at MSG with Stevens being a NY guy. I really want to see this one, but Showtime suddenly started being a bit cagey after last nights win. I also hope that HBO doesn't decide that it ain't worth the risk (which would be stupid, 'cos Stevens has very little chance in reality).

I want it made - MSG on Nov 4th.

Stop acting like GGG is all that.

He's 31 and his biggest win is Mathew Macklin...that would be kinda' impressive if he were 21.

GGG's entire career is stay-busy type fighters TIME FOR HIS OLD ASS TO STEP UP.:deal

Stevens looked strong, but he peppered Roman with a ton of shots before he got that big punch in. I don't see him doing the same thing to GGG. I think he'll get caught first.
I'll take GGG by stoppage in 5!

    'Gainst who?

Rubio, Lee and Showtime are the only fighters available at 160 at the moment. 'Less the Geale/Barker or Jr/Vera winners want him at the end of the year, but I don't see them with a better chance than Showtime (who's at least got a punchers chance).

Froch's got Groves and Ward's looking for a tune up. There just is no-one for GGG to 'step up' against right now.

When was the last time GGG fought somebody with KO power?

I find it hard to believe all the punchers are ducking but the featherfists are not.

GGG has a puncher's chance against Stevens as well.

It's not like Golovkin is beating world beaters.

    Suuuure.

    I thought he'll fight at 168?????

    What happened to that.

Are they ducking the old guy too.

Everybody is scared of GG but the guys that can't punch...how convenient.
