why do people want to see mayweather/pac vs ortiz?

Honestly, either of these ATG's would 'tap that ass' so hard. Mayweather would embarass him for 12 rounds and pac would probably end his career in a trinidad-vargas like beating.

The guy is good, and big, but he's still young and developing... it would ultimately be a pretty boring fight imo.

There aren't many 'top' bouts out there for Pacquiao (or Mayweather if he returns). Ortiz is probably now seen as the 'best of the rest' at Welterweight, even though he has only picked up one good win as a WW.

Floyd coming off a long layoff would make it interesting. Vic wouldn't serve as the average tune up fight by any means. Pac fighting Ortiz makes sense because....well, who is the best welterweight at 147 (not named Pac or Floyd) if not Vic?? Berto is still game but Ortiz has moved ahead of him. Vic has a puncher's chance against any welterweight. And it's fairly safe to assume he still has a chip on his shoulder which eliminates the possibility of him going on his bicycle in the ring. If he continues to fight like he did last time, he'll always be in an interesting match.

but that's exactly my point... if he fights like he did vs berto against pac/mayweather, he will be ruined

    This :deal

Berto was the only top WW that Manny/May hadn't fought between them but was constantly called 'too green' or 'work in progress'. Now that Ortiz has beaten him, he moves up in the stakes and the fact that he has a belt helps. Though I wouldn't like to see this fight either as he gets ruined by both men.

Defo a better fight than Pac/May vs Bradley though. Bradley aint doing sh*t at 147, Berto would've ruined him!

Ortiz wouldn't be competitive at all with Pacweather. He'd be brutalized in one, and embarrassed in the other. Unless, in the next 12 months, he shows us something which suggests he could hang with them, my opinion is going to remain the same.

I think he should just simply beat on whoever's left at 147, and wait for the likes of Khan, Maidana, Bradley and Alexander to come up. It's those guys who Ortiz should kick with for the time being.

imo, ortiz needs to prove himself more with atleast one or two fights against quality welters. but hey, if golden boy and him are willing to jump right in and get schooled and embarrassed by mayweather or brutalized and destroyed by pac, fine by me, i'd watch it.

Mayweather coming from another long lay off vs a opponent thats bigger hungrier and always knocks his opposition down... who knows? Its atleast a good fight for floyd considering the lay off.

Same way people wanted to see pac-jmm, cos its not happpening. Soon as its signed people will call it a **** fight. Bradley is a more competitive fight than Ortiz, watch round 6 of ortiz-berto...guy was a mess. Pac inside 3 rounds.

Quite simply because the welterweight division is weak as **** and ortiz is the next best welterweight after pacman. Even if he is a few levels below him.

Plus if manny beats ortiz he finally becomes a champ at welterweight. Meaning he'd have held the true championship from flyweight to welterweight.

People can ***** and moan about his opposition all they want but that would be the reality.

Ortiz is the next highest ranked fighter in the division.

Would you rather see Mayweather fight Clottey, Margo or Mosley? hahaha

He is the top man at welterweight other than Pac and Floyd.
