Why wouldn't anyone wanna see the top two fighters in the division fight each other?

The fact that hopkins is ten years past his prime and is the premiere lhw in the world is the stuff of legend.

At this point his legacy can only continue. He can lose and it won't matter. He can win and his legend increases.

First of all you are not a Hopkins fan or otherwise you would want him in the best fights out there and that means Chad Dawson first. All this crap about the Calzaghe fight and Hopkins age don't mean jack and ****. Dawson lost to JP and Hopkins drew and won one against JP so what is with a fight between the two men who wanted the JP fight for a rematch? It is a even balanced fight for Chrissake!

I think Dawson will give Hopkins a boxing lesson. Hopkins skills have declined the last six years, there is no question about that. His work-rate is lower, he looks less sharper, I think Dawson will expose Hopkins for his age. And Dawson is simply a boxer you can't easily outbox. And Hopkins is not a puncher, he's not slugger, he's tricky, but he's smaller than Tarver.

Dawson by TKO or easy UD.

No, I'm neither a huge fan or a hater of Hopkins.

......I had him losing both Taylor and the Calzaghe fight, but I had him beating Winky.

I dont think Hopkins has gotten robbed or that he's been the beneficiary of a robbery.

Point blank, he's a great fighter. One that would have competed in any era.......but I will say that the Hopkins that lost to Taylor to the present, gets beat by fighters faster and quicker than he is.
Dawson presents that dillema, plus he's a southpaw, and is more skilled than any fighter Hopkins has fought since his move past Middleweight except for Joe Calzaghe.

Dawson is way above the league of Pavlik or Pascal, which is why I feel Hopkins will get dominated and stopped.

    Exellent points.
Dawson has motivational issues and has been fighting down to the caliber of his opposition.

He's been wanting this Hopkins fight for a long time, so you know he's going to be physically and mentally ready for it both.

He just does not actually know what he is talking about!

Dawson is not going to dominate Hopkins! Not even a 70 years old one.

A better question would be "why would anyone not want to watch a hopkins fight vs anyone"?

Maybe you should stick to mma buddy. I prefer to watch skills in the ring myself.

I know hopkins wasnt past his prime when he fought calzaghie. I could tell by the lesson he taught calzaghie and his dad.

im a proud hopkins nuthugger, hi you doing :hi:. but i personally dont care for the fight and i dont think it would be exciting as i use to. when i think about there styles in the ring, i just think it's going to be one of the chess match type of fights. but dawson and johnson had a war there 1st fight but that was johnson who made it war. but i just think hopkins vs dawson would be a fight the purist of the sport would enjoy. that being sayed i think hopkins should fight all the other title holders starting with.....

    Beibut Shumenov
    Juergen Braehmer / Nathan Cleverly
    Tavoris Cloud

thats who hopkins should fight, bute would be a good fight for him as well. or the winner of the super 6 after they fight bute should they win. has a proud hopkins nuthugger i got big plans for the next 2yrs for bhop :bbb:happy

but chad has waited an was promised the winner of pascal and hopkins 1st fight, im sure they payed him a milli to sit a side a few months so hopkins and pascal 2 could happen. it would be ****ed up if they do not give dawson a shot at hopkins title, but so what it was ****ed up when pascal kicked his ass.

Hopkins is doing GREAT things. People age differently, you can argue that he is still in his prime, seriously. He is, IMO, once again IMO, as good now as he was when he was in his mid to late 30's. Those were his best years too.

He is making history everytime he steps into the ring. Whether you like him or not, you have to respect him.

This of course gets brought back to Calzaghe, which is irrelevant. He lost to him who is a great fighter. He wasn't shot, too old, or past his prime. Deep down he accepts the loss, whatever. He is doing bigger things right now than Calzaghe.

Read the initial post dummy. Many Hopkins fans preach Hopkins was shot when he lost to Calzaghe, so I was curious why people would want to watch a fighter they consider shot. Thats how accidents happen
