Why do Puerto Ricans like Cotto?

    My mom my was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and my dad was born in Spain, and I've found no reason to like Cotto. First of all, just look at how ugly he is. But that's not really a big reason to hate him, Morales is ugly, and so is Marquez after fights, but Mexicans like them.. but the true reason why I dislike Cotto is because he's a quitter and his personality disgusts me. After being savagely beaten by Pacquaio, he all of a sudden became best friends with him? Where's that warrior spirit that all Latin fighters have? His best friend is a fat groupie he met on a fan site..(who I personally believe is semi homosexual) and the way he conducts himself is just utterly disgusting. He almost never shows nationalistic pride, and trains in Florida. Now Trinidad, there's a fine Puerto Rican boxer.. Carlos Ortiz, Gomez, Benitez.. I just feel that Cotto doesn't fit the role of the next Puerto Rican superstar, that role is much better left for Lopez after he gets his rematch with Solido.

    Because puerto ricans back their own. It's the same everywhere you go they back the local lad.But not all do of course, like yourself, you're a Miguel hater. I am not a fan of either Rito or Cotto. I will watch the bantamweights this weekend.

    Was obviously a joke when I was talking about his looks, learn to read between the lines, bruh. My main point was why like a boxer based solely on his nationality? I'm sure most, if not all Mexicans hate Ortiz because he's semi ******ed and gave a fight away.. The same point goes for Margarito. Why like a guy who's a cheater, just because he's Mexican? Why use nationalistic pride on the Cotto/Margarito fight when both of them are disgraced, unlikeable boxers? Well, that's just my opinion, of course.

    why do african americans like Mayweather?
    why did mexicans like De La Hoya?
    why did whites like Pavlik?
    why do asians like Pacquiao?

    Welcome! I am glad you came out from the cave you have been living in. Now, let me give you a little dose of reality:
    1. Many Puerto Rican hate Cotto.
    2. Boxers don't need to be pretty to have fans.
    3. You will quit too if someone is hitting with a cast over and over.
    4. There is not such a thing as SEMI- HOMOSEXUAL. You either are or are not.
    5. Your post almost convinced me you are!!

    Agreed.

    I don't need Cotto to act like a little pit bull with a complex about being the toughest dude etc. He is a cool fella and I think he carries himself with dignity in a way that does not embarrass his country.

    We could ask the same about Margarito... The guy comes off as semi-******ed and what about that, makes Mexicans crazy about him. Or what about plaster wraps makes him a true champ?
