Benn would beat RJJ in a toe to toe war. RJJ knew that and would have outboxed Benn pretty easily, and probably taken him out in the mid to late rounds.
Er, okay. Can you justify it when you say that most people have picked Benn? From what I remember most people picked Jones.
Mind you, the younger animalistic Benn would be a 2/3/4-rounder with a Jones Jr, and it would be about 65/35 Benn. Six rounds with Benn at his best aggressively is too many rounds for Jones Jr to escape.
And yet the great Thulani Malinga was able to last the distance with Nigel Benn twice (beating him the second time). How is it that Thulani Malinga managed to do it against the aggressive Benn and yet you feel that Jones, perhaps one of the most difficult to hit boxers in history, would not be able to avoid the onslaught? A more likely scenario is as follows: Roy toys with and shuts out Benn, embarrassing him in a manner similar to Roy's fanciful and entertaining destruction of the legendary Thulani Malinga.
Benn jabbed with Malinga for 10 rounds and had 3 weeks to prepare. Try watching the fight. Also Malinga deserved that decision.
Sugarboy just covered up against Jones Jr. That's all he did. Jones Jr couldn't penetrate the defense and had to resort to feints.
Although RJJ had the class to outbox RJJ Nigel was one of these rare boxers that could put you to sleep with one punch and without accumulation. Thats probably why so many people gave him a chance but if RJJ fought in safety mode and could not see how Benn would win.
That's fine. We can also say: Marcos Maidana could have beat Roy in his SMW prime. According to Kevin Kelley, he hits abnormally hard. If he caught Roy just right, he could have KOed him.
They started mentioning it when RJJ was officially beyond shot and Benn was retired. Back when it was possible both Benn and Collins were offered career high paydays and turned it down. For the noobs who don't know about this yet and will shamelessly quote this post with "Where's the proof man?!??!". Go watch the interview before RJJ vs Brannon as he was publicly interviewed and CONFIRMED by HBO that these offers were indeed MADE and turned down.
BS! Benn never turned down a big offer from RJJ. Benn made millions fighting Eubank so I doubt RJJ was going to give him a bigger payday than that given how greedy he was in negotiations. Complete lies. As for Collins I dont know could be true.
Expected something like this, my post was edited before your response. Check out the new line and look into it before acting like a ***** on her periods.
He may have made an offer but lie and claim that they were career high paydays for Benn. Thats BS. Benn wanted to fight RJJ and called him out.
