I don't either. People just don't like his style because he doesn't have a lot of knockout power. And most people have only seen him fight 3 times. He'll get better. He'll rack up some wins, and it will go from "no credit" to "can't stand him"...

I think people are still in disbelief that this "beanpole" of a guy won't go away. He is getting in the way of some people's favorite fighters when CLEARLY he should have been disposed of by now. Nothing but hooping and hollering going on when he lost to Quintana. But, when he knocked him Smoove-Da-****-Out in about 100 seconds, people were saying it was luck. Ha!

Whatever! Paul stalked around his ass for the first 45 seconds and then said "**** tha bull****. Eat this 3-piece so we can get it on." The rest is history. No one has ever done that to Quintana in the first round (who most people considered pretty decent before Cotto got a hold of him)

According to everyone here - Margarito, obviously! But he'd better be careful, because if Paul whips him again, he will be the one disposed of.

There's always going to be that someone I guess...I've always been a big PW fan but these haters are inspiring me to root a little harder now...

Difference is, I think even the media is somewhat in on it. His name seldom gets tossed around with the elite WW's and when it does, it's always in passing. He doesn't get credit for his win against Margo, and it's described as "an untypically slow start for Margarito" rather than "A Williams gameplan that frustrated Margarito". People also talk about his loss to Quintana, but his victory is an unproven fluke. He is not considered the Top of the Welters because he doesn't have this HUGE fanbase as other fighters, so he doesn't have the draw. Pretty shitty way for the boxing "experts" to sit around and decide who they'll crown as the "Top Guy"... :huh

imo hes the most exciting guy in ww

    extremely skilled
    CAN LOSE
    outspoken
    young and black..

maybe since berto fits that criteria also they look for berto to be that guy

Like it or not Quintana schooled him the first time round.

But he is a good fighter.

Well....Marg is known for a "slow start". But we've seen Marg recently start off fast, so people know he is capable. Paul's problem is he did what many young fighters do who are incredibly gifted and highly touted. He started to believe his own press clippings too much going in to the Quintana fight. He looked very sluggish and unprepared.....He looked in great shape but his fight game lacked more than I've ever saw.

That loss kind of put Pauls name in the bucket with all the other prospects....he cleaned some of that up by his quick KO defeat of Carlos a few months after but....that LOSS will stay in the minds of skeptics for some time. That is part of the reason why Paul's BIGGEST win is met with some contraversy.

Carlos did do a great job the 1st go round....but given the domination in the 2nd fight it would be easy to chalk that "L" on Paul's resume as a "Bad night". The one way to reverse a loss is to redeem yourself and Paul passed that test easily.

Nothing wrong with being schooled, especially if you bounce back. It baffles me how people talk more about the first fight than the second. Anyone who has seen him fight before knows that he was sluggish and lethargic that fight. Yet he made no excuses.

It's funny how people won't excuse his loss to CQ even though he avenged it, YET they excuse Margarito's unavenged loss to Paul simply because he said he should have won and he went on to beat someone different.

I like berto...i think he has a lot of potential....but I think he is also limited in the sense that he doens't have that kind of mental and physical toughness that it will take to overthrow a guy like Paul or Marg. Now...his skills, talent and ability are top notch....I just have a feeling he's gonna be like Zab...does well...gets some titles but never reaches that highest pleateau in the sport. Even in his answers now when being interviewed he is humble, yes...but he is also not sure of himself which is a red flag to me. I could be wrong and reading too much in to it....but I don't expect to see a Stellar career like Shane's, DLH's, Bhops, Roy's or Floyds.
