Why do so many people have the "if" mentality?

I call it the David Haye "if" mentality. "If Ortiz had more in the tank" "if Joshua had him in that position..." etc.
It's the same thing after every Haye fight he loses - "if Haye wasn't injured... if he didn't hurt his Achilles he'd do this, that and the other".

Well, "if" I picked 4 different numbers in the euromillions the other week, I'd have won £140million. But guess what? It didn't happen. "If" my auntie had a pair of ball she'd be my uncle.

There's no point in saying "if". The fact is Ortiz DIDN'T win, yeah he might be the more technically sound boxer, but it's not enough. Wilder won, and deservedly so. You could comprehensibly outbox someone for 11 rounds and get knocked out in the 12th. It's the end result that TRULY matters. And Ortiz got knocked the **** out.

They were just praying Wilder would lose. 99% of this forum hates Wilder.

In the case of last night and the night of the Joshua/Wlad fight it's a coping mechanism to soften the blow of a loss of their fighter. They are looking for a silver lining. If Ortiz and Wlad had suddenly become different fights and fought more aggressively in rounds 8 and 7 respectively they would of KO'ed their opponents. As you say fact is they didn't.

Fighters can't just change how they normally fight mid fight, they teach their bodies to react a certain way with many hundreds of hours in the gym by developing muscle memory, hence why Wlad couldn't just pull the trigger on Fury you can't flip a switch and undo all that training which has set down neurological pathways to react a certain way.

With Wlad I can understand. He had a 10 year reign as champion. But let's be honest here, the majority were not big fans of Ortiz. They weren't coping with Ortiz losing, they were coping with Wilder winning again lol.

Again? You crack me up Ellerbe. Wilder scores his first legit world class win and you drench your panties. It's a great show of intent that he is finally willing to swap leather with top ranked opponents and showed us his power against top opposition but he still looked very very beatable.

So you think I'm wrong? You genuinely believe more people were upset with Ortiz losing than Wilder winning? I wish I could see the reaction of everyone here once Wilder ended the fight :risas3:.

I'm talking about you being so quick to coronate him after his first legit world class win. He took a big step tonight. Congrats to him.

I said again because before the Stiverne fight, Wilder was the underdog on here by far. He proved everyone wrong AGAIN. Now watch people downplay this win a year from now.

I won't. But I also said Stiverne was total **** before he was champ, when he was champ and when he fought Wilder the second time. Bermane has always been pretty poor by world standards IMO and when ill and then shot to **** even more so.

Context is key my friend. We're talking about "ifs" in fights used as an excuse.

Parker's bumass is about to get sparked out. Parker annoys the **** out of me because he's just wasting everyone's time. Do you think anyone besides kiwis would prefer Parker/Joshua over Wilder/Joshua?
