..........a younger Hopkins lost to a lesser version of Dawson in Taylor? Is anyone going to deny that Dawson is bigger, strong, faster, more polished, and just an overall better fighter than Taylor? Taylor's hand speed and combinations kept Hopkins on the defensive, so what makes people think Dawson wouldn't do the same to Hopkins?

Is it Dawson's chin? Was Hopkins drained at 160? Will Hopkins fight a different fight? Just trying to see where people are coming from.

I think Dawson wins UD, Hopkins is too far past it IMO.

Taylor didn't really beat Hopkins 1 and 2 Johnson layed a blueprint on Dawson in a way. And Hopkins a master a studying a fighters weaknesses. So he would go on that and even study the fighters strengths to know what to look for and capitalize on it. Dawson may be faster but he ain't smarter and he can't fight as many styles as Hopkins. And yes, Hopkins can hurt him if he tags with some good counters. And Hopkins is definetly not the fighter you wanna bet against in a big fights cause he'll find a way to make a good arguement for a win even if he doesn't get the decision. I'd take Hopkins in this fight.

The Hopkins that lost to Taylor had just narrowly outpointed a post prime Howard Eastman.

Today's Hopkins has just schooled a prime middleweight champion.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

How on earth is Taylor a lesser version of Dawson? Hopkins is older than when he fought Taylor and has found his zone at LHW. That could be a weight thing from metabolisms slowing as you get older. who knows? But what we all know is what he has done against Pavlik and how close he took Calzaghe. I think Calzaghe and Hopkins both beat Dawson but that's just my opinion

Hopkins is cagey, I think he would give Dawson fits. Plus, I know B-Hops is not a big puncher but well conditioned, and Dawson's chin looked somewhat vulnerable late in fights. Like somebody said - you can never bet against Hopkins.

If Johnson laid out the blue print? Ok then look at what Johnson did he ate punch after punch to land his own...He has tons of energy and fights at a rapid pace. I don't think there is anyone else who can duplicate that. Hopkins doesnt have the enery to do that...Even if you look at Calzaghe...he could duplicate that style but he doesnt have the chin or power do what Johnson did. If there was an easy way to beat Dawson then Tarver would have done it. Or Adamek would have succeeded...

Hopkins has trouble with speed...That why Dawson, Jones, Taylor and Calzaghe were/are all wrong for him.

That is the reason he can beat down Pavlik but will lose to Dawson. Styles make fights...to a degree of course...

Just to add, look at guys like Tito, Winky, and Tarver. P4P fighters but guys who didn't possess great hand speed to get off first. Hopkins took away Tito's left hook, Winky's jab, and Tarver's left, and Pavlik's right. But it's harder to counter raw speed.

So even after Trinidad, Tarver, and Pavlik, you lot still haven't learned your lesson? Dawson would look even worse than he did against Johnson in this fight, and would either lose a UD, or be stopped late.

...because he is a better, more experienced fighter, who still has the tools and skills to beat Dawson, in short.

Sorry but if you look at guys Hopkins have had success against and guys he's struggled against, it's no mystery.

For the record, i'm not saying Dawson would beat Hopkins for sure but i would favor him.
