Because Hatton was given a chance to beat Floyd, and he really did not do well and then he was knocked out by Floyd, who doesn't really knock many guys out like that. Hatton is a good fighter and credit to the sport, but he was not in the class of Floyd or Pacman. That is clear.

:deal Basically pacquiao has turned into a feinting, bobbing, weaving recking machine. And its the reason why the pac-cotto fight will not be as difficult as previously thought. If cotto didnt have the advantages in size and power this would be a foregone conclusion.

I think at the moment theres only 2 or 3 fighters that can match pacquiaos skill level. Mayweather, marquez and possibly mosley. If the fights are around 140 they will be wars guranteed.

have we forgotten all the turds that were creaming themselves over Hatton's demolision of Mallinaggi?

"hatton is new and improved his jab is back! he whacked out Pauli!... Even Cotto could'nt stop Pauli! Wow Hatton is a beast at 140, he's a huge monster its his division! "

"Hatton the beast will break pac's glass body. watch out for the body shots!!!"

    Hatton snarls! WhoA!!! Wwhaa!!! whaAH!!!

oh no Hatton is down. :-(

I give Pac credit for the way he disposed of Hatton. What's funny though is the number of ****s on here that say Hatton was ****, but claim Pac is awesome for his win over Hatton.

I'm not saying it's not true, but how exactly do you know that Pac doesn't hit as hard as Tszyu? It's not as if we have an accurate gauge to tell just how hard Pac hits at 140.

Anyway, the problem I see with your reasoning is that you are assuming

    1. The ref would have allowed the borderline dirty way Hatton fought Tszyu - While what happened with Pac was nothing like the shitty way cortez handled the Hatton-PBF fight, Bayless kept the fight pretty much clean and broke up the clinches especially when Hatton locked one of Pac's arms under his (unlike in the Tszyu fight)

    2. Pac would react exactly the same way that Tszyu did to Hatton's style. not dissing Tszyu, but he's a different fighter from Pac. Like when Hatton had Tszyu in a clinch, Tszyu would often be content to trade inside, while Pac would trade a bit, and then try to push Hatton away (or the clinch would be broken up by Bayless). Plus this is a prime Pac we are talking about, who has the stamina to keep the same intense work rate up through 12 rounds. Succumbing to pressure fighters often means gassing out, something that Pac never seems to worry about. Even when he was getting beat up by Morales in his first fight, he was fighting with the same intensity in round 12.

    3. The KO punch in the 2nd round would not have KO'd the Hatton from the Tszyu fight. Seriously, did you see that KO punch? That was a Pac left hand with all the speed and power generated from his legs all the way up his arm landing right on the chin. No junior Welterweight would get up from that.

In the end, Pac is not Tszyu. While it may be argued that Hatton may have lost some punch resistance, saying that Tszyu and Pac would share the same fate against that version of Hatton is like saying that prime Pac = slightly past prime Tszyu.

The reason the hatten win is nothing special where i'm from in London, is becasue we all knew Hatton was finished after the mayweather fight. Billy Graham knew he was finished after the Mayweather fight.

Hatton almost lost against Lazcano in Manchester (almost got caught by the same check hook that got him in Vegas:patsch) He should have quit then, but he continued and went on to fight paulie (who cant punch for toffee) and then went on to get retired by pacman, but the damage had been done by PBF - Fact!!!

Pacman still had to get the job done and he did it in quick fashion, but Hatton's jaw's waiting for a right hand, a left hand, a left knee, kick the whole lot, his defense is awful throughout the majority of every round he fights in, the kid just isnt good enough at the top level.

Beating Hatton isnt some major feat just as beating an old way way past it DLH.

lets keep things into perspective here, Pacman will have a chance for some more defining fights, but his last two are not those fights IMO.

Oh I think it's two separate groups of people. Haters are saying Hatton was **** or shot, to discredit Pac's win. Huggers are saying that no way Hatton was shot and that he was a P4P ranked fighter and the best at 140, to further boost his win.

Me I think Hatton was a very solid fighter and a very live underdog but certainly not elite. What really impressed me wasn't that Pac won, it was how he won.
