Those lame ass methods have worked for Wlad pretty well. Those fights sure didn't hurt Taylor financially, but they played a part in stunting his growth as a fighter.

I pin that whole mess on Taylor as much as Manny. How many days, weeks, and whole camps do you really have to go through before you realize you and your trainer aren't communicating? Maybe Taylor was too young/ proud/ naive to say something, but watching those two together was just painful. Everyone could see it wasn't working, but I guess Taylor was afraid to pull the plug.

Actually before we blame Manny Steward, let's look at the problem for what it is.

Taylor has poor boxing intelligence. Simple as that.

Against, Brewster, Thompson, Ibrigamov and others, Wlad is a 6'6 HW with very good offense who was already on top, further more the HW division is such a joke, 90% of the posters here could probably train Wlad to beat the **** out of guys like Thompson.

Taylor was much better Before and After Steward, he tries to make all his guys fight like Hearns, instead of working with thier strengths, its the same old Jab, Jab, Right Hand ****, thats all Taylor did, since cutting Manny he has looked much better and will get a stoppage next fight IMO.

The loss is recent and is an example of boxing and moving, countering, that many have said Williams was susceptible to.

If CQ could do it, Sergio Martinez could do it and make more one sided while doing so....

Paul Williams crying skills are definitely lacking.

Now I sound obsessive! I've got to stop harping on that.

I hadn't thought about a Martinez v. Williams. It'd be pretty interesting, though KO-lovers will hate us for loving it. Does Martinez have enough discipline to mind his P's & Q's for a full 12 rounds against that kind of pressure?

IMHO....The first fight versus Quintana was nothing more than a bad night for Williams and that was proven by the way he cameback in their second fight. His attitude was totally different and he seemed more intent on taking out Quintana early in the fight.

Paul was caught on an off night and he proved it in the rematch. That defeat helped Paul more than it hurt him in the long run imo. i wouldn't worry about it too much.

  13. I suppose another thing is the physical diffrence..... Someone with all the advantages that PW had over CQ he probably should never have lost

  14. But a loss is a loss........ Great boxers are usually determined by their wins not losses.........It's just in Modern boxing a loss in 10x more damaging than in past eras

But why did Paul lose? Was it the weight? Was he not mentally prepared?
