I don't even really understand people not liking his personality - but what is truly beyond comprehension is that some people don't even respect the man for taking on all challengers. That's just ridiculous...
He's hardly spectacular, and makes many mistakes he could fix without hindering his entertainment factor.
I would argue that he is spectacular. Not spectacularly talented, but spectacular by meaning that the fights he puts on are very entertaining. He does make a lot of mistakes. It's an enigma, because he actually has solid boxing fundamentals. He was a very successful amateur, and can fight in quite an orthodox way. I think he is addicted to the thrill of knocking people out, and likes the role of the bully in the ring. The fact is, he gets rewarded for fighting this way. Only Holyfield and JCC have had more fights televised in the history of Showtime. That's an amazing achievement for a foreign guy who doesn't have a local fan base.
I agree with this. Oh yeah, it's there. He does things well in glimpses, and then just acts like a barbarian going for a 1 punch KO. Not the smartest fighter, but surely capable of being smart like he was in the Mares fight (He was trying to set traps counter-punching somewhat cleverly). I think he's too old for his style, and probably the division. It also seemed to me in the Perez fight that he had some stamina issues. A huge huge problem with his style, and when fighting at a weight where he just can't 1 punch stop you. I agree, and that's an interesting stat I didn't know. As for the thread, I don't really see much to any hate for Vic. Maybe I've been missing it. :think Some people admired how he wants to redeem from his losses. Although, I can't say he gets hated on more than most fighters. I think the opposite might be true. I could be wrong. For the record, I actually kind of like Vic. He's fun (Can be funny), and I'm a fan of the crouch as a fighting style (Although he butchers the **** out of it with openness, telegraphing, and negligence to defense). I've seen a fair share of his fights and even though he dominated Perez he still frustrated the hell out of me in that fight. Not the most talented guy but he can still be even better.
darchinyan's better in that he keeps it real whereas floyd is for show. that's why he sucks because floyd opts to be a ***** just to sell his fights and not keep his reputation/character intact then goes on to cry about it.
Win or lose, I love watching Darchinyan fight. I honestly thought he was well past it but maybe he has a few fights left in him.
