you mean like bert cooper accepting a fight with champion evander holyfield on 7 days notice when fransceco damiani pulled out after tyson pulled out....
but guys like alexander povetkin even after being #1 contender refuses to fight the champion and even gives up his number one ranking over a 2 year period?
or guys who hide behind more tests than what is already in place by the boxing commisions ? i dont remember leonard or hearns ever demanding anything absurb to make a fight with each other..they wanted to prove who the best was....
theres a reason why new age boxers get a wrap as being soft and full of ****

Just observe the people around you, its an epidemic. Kids nowadays are afraid of getting hurt, they'd rather show off their machismo in the internet where the only thing possible of getting hurt are their eyes and back.

my wife won't even let my four year-old son walk barefoot on the ground or play outside. When my boy runs, the wife is always on the lookout and tells him to stop or he might slip or fall down. Then She gives him a playstation so he can have something to play with.

When i was young, i was climbing trees, i was crawling on mud, i was jumping on creeks and on the bridge over the river. regular playstuff for me. and my mother never whimpered a protest. Tells you the difference between past and present

In my opinion, it's because today, and the recent trend for many years now, is that boxing is being run more like a business to the big names then a sport.

You have guys who refuse to fight another guy just because, if they lose, they may lose on a huge payday. **** that, bring it back to the days it was a ****in sport!

    They don't seem. They were.

Perhaps the best thing about it is that any of those guys at their peak could **** on the "modern athlete". They aren't giving up anything.
