Some things are more important than boxing legacy or proving you are the undisputed best in your division, I would say not beating the **** out of your own brother is one of them.

Anyone who would call for this fight should question their motives for wanting to witness that.

One belt per class would fix this problem. Thats what I like about UFC. Only one belt per class. Who ever has the WBC belt is the real champ anyway. So Vitali is the real champ. But if they would have faced each other Vitali would have won. Wlad even admits that.

Don't know the answer to that, but I can't imagine the promoters/broadcasters are gonna want to pay out 2/3/4 sets of sanctioning fees on a fight. Think about it though - if the fighter just pays 1 sanctioning fee, and wins, what are the other alphabets gonna do? Say he ain't getting our belt 'cos he didn't pay us ffs?

Either way the sanctioning organisations opposition to unifiers is a matter of record - Google Sulieman + WBC + unification as an example. The rationale is obvious and it's apparent throughout the sport.

For what it's worth when I can be bothered pulling together more solid evidence and arguments I'll put a thread together, cos the role of the Sanctioning bodies and the influence they (and the Governing Organisations) have over the sport seems to be widely misunderstood and underestimated. - They ain't just a group of kindly referees overseeing the sport ouuta personal dedication and a sense of public duty tho..

edit: in case it's misunderstood;- I ain't a Klit fan - though I do respect their boxing achievements - the chip on my shoulder is about the bull**** politics and corruption in the organisations and individuals who 'manage' the sweet science.

When I was a young lad my older brother treated me badly. He beat me up. He stole my toys. He made fun of my haircut. I wanted to hit him so badly. But he was my brother. My flesh and blood. I could never do such a thing, and I would never be capable until years later when I outgrew him in size. By then I had matured to a point where I understood why I could never hurt my older brother. But deep down those scars that he inflicted have not healed. And they never will.

And that is why I want this fight to happen. I want Wlad to rise up against his older brother and punish him the way I never could. Not just for me. But for every younger brother who ever had to dealed with the torment of his big brother. I want Vitali to feel our pain. I want my brother to feel our pain. Wlad and I deserve that much. I need this fight to happen so that I can finally be free.

Or I just want to see the #1 heavyweight fight the #2 heavyweight.

For once Derrick, my friend, I find myself in agreement with you. One belt has to be the best way.

Ain't gonna happen sadly, 'cos no-one wants to give up their slice of the pie - The Alphabets have each established a particular constituency who will continue to support 'em cos of the benefits they gain.

If anything it's about to become even worse with AIBA trying to enter the fray.

I wouldn't do it if I were them and I wouldn't want them to do it as a fan.

I actually agree. They are almost perceived to be some sort of tag team champions of the heavyweight division and it is terrible for boxing.

Even if they fight, it'll be a light sparring session. They won't throw punches for real so what's the point? Both guys will be jabbing all night and no power punches will be throw.

It's be a sham of a fight because neither guy will want to hurt the other guy. Imagine a fight with less action than most sparring sessions...that's the fight right there.

Zombieguy (appropriate) is a lame troll and a hater. Go fight your brother for a few bucks, if you have one.

I presume the thread starter thinks Dirrell is just as bad then for refusing to fight his friend and withdrawing from the super six?

I basically agree. I don't think they should be expected to fight one another, but it is a fact that Wlad hasn't been tested by the best of his generation. I got no problem with his not fighting his brother but it has to be appraised properly in the sporting sense.

And they don't "get away with it" universally. It's the reason the Transnational Boxing Board don't have a heavyweight champion, for example.
