Your pretty much right on the money. If it was about fighters getting the belt because of their past achievements then JDS would have gotten that belt a long time ago.
And then defended it twice, once against a former UFC champion and conquerer, not to mention won his second title defense by submission. You're talking ****.
:good The fact that Lesnar had a long and hugely successful career in THE premier amateur wrestling federation is conveniently overlooked by those that claim he was "handed" the UFC title. :nono None of these dickwads could accomplish a fraction of what Lesnar has. :deal
Floyd could easily have lost his 0 if he fought pac in 2009, fights martinez...or if the judges favoured castillo in there first fight.
Against Frank Mir arguably the only other fighter more scared of punches than Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin who you have to admit handed Brock a beating he wont soon forget. Shane Carwin lost that fight because of his inexperience and lack of conditioning, not because of Brock. The only thing Brock did before Shane gassed out badly was run away and go into a fetal position and hope that the ref wont stop the fight. Tim Silvia's title defenses were more challenging than the gimme fight that Brock had.
I wouldn't exactly use the term disappear when discribing someone that had a foot of their colon removed. atsch
Jones looked about 4 inches taller, 25 lbs bigger than Shogun when they fought. I don't see why Jones can't fight a HW. I don't see why GSP can't fight Silva. Size differences are there. They don't fight because White makes shitty ass PPV's with one well known guy and shitty fighters in the under card.
More's the pity. Hence we have the Chavez Jrs, Calzaghes and this "42 have tried, 42 have failed" bull****. I want to see the best fight the best - real fans don't care if fighters lose, as long they fought to the best of their ability (& more importantly, heart and guts). If they make weight, they make weight. Donaire is one of my favourite boxers, and I don't like it that he sometimes looks like a man beating up on a child but the scales say it's legal.
sorry but thats wrong, its mixed martial arts, these 2 were amazing at wrestling, which is the best base for MMA, its not as if theyve just started training from a clean plate... its not like that at all
Apologies if this has been raised already but surely its worth pointing out that champions actually don't have 'journeyman' records anymore? JDS: 14-1 Jon Jones: 15-1 (only loss a DQ_ Anderson Silva: 31-4 (one loss a DQ) GSP: 22-2 Frankie Edgar: 14-1-1 Jose Aldo: 20-1 Dominick Cruz: 19-1 So of all the UFC champions, the only one to have more than two losses in Anderson Silva...the man who's in the middle of a five year winning streak.
Your absolutely right. These guys are close enough in weight to fight each other. Dana is simply protecting his cash cows and preventing the fight that everyone wants to see from happening.
And UFC wants to keep it this way, afterall a loss is bad for business. This is why Zuffa doesnt want any of these guys fighting champions from overseas and also doesnt want them fighting each other.
Because the best fight the best. Bj Penn has a 16-8 record but he has fought top notch opponent his whole career. Serra-former welterweight champion Hughes(3X)-former welterweight champion -GSP(2X) -current welterweight champion jens pulver-former lightweight champion joe stevenson-ultimate fighter winner sean sherk-former lightweight champion Diego Sanchez-ultimate fighter winner frankie Edgar-current lightweight champion Jon fitch Nick Diaz--former WEC-strikeforce welterweight champion takanori gomi--former pride fc champion Lyoto machida--former ufc light heavyweight champion I mean look at that level of competition:deal
