dont most promotors have an alpahbet that they have closer links and ties with??
I mean with hennessey, he seems to be able to get down the wbc route easier than for example fwank.
Having said that two of fwanks fighters in the last year have contested the vacant wba international belt (smith and degale)

Getting a World title fight is a like England trying to get the World Cup in 2018.

Due to being in the business for a long time, he has built up allot of connections.

The WBO hold conventions 2-3 times a year and Warren will persoanlly attend or send a member of his staff. At these conventions he will propose fighters to the rankings comitee and that will get them a ranking.

With someone like Nathan Cleverly, it will just be a job of selling to the WBO why he should be ranked. He will send DVD's, point out his record and importantly potential earnings in the future.

The WBO will take 2-3% of a fighters purse as there sanctioning fee. Warren fighters earn more money that others, which means the WBO will get more money. Warren probably always pay on time, and puts on allot of fights so its in the intrest of the WBO to work with him.

A promoter is just a salesman at the end of the day. He is selling to the TV networks, the public and the organisations. Warren is the best because he is a better salesman than others.

All the promoters do the same thing. How many times a week do you think Jose Sulliman picks up the bill in a restraunt???

Theres nothing paticuarly shady about it as its done by every promoter. Warren is just better than others as he puts on bigger shows and doesnt take the presidents to a whimpey like Hennesey.

Gavin Rees got a WBA title shot because Warren signed M'baye foolishly believing he might be able to lure Hatton into a showdown.

Although he does seem to be trying to forge a relationship with them as Khan, Small, Smith & Degale have all fought for WBA International/Intercontinental titles in the recent past.

Hennessy has no sway with the WBC - it's just that the WBC generally tend to reward fighters who win the traditional titles - they nearly always reward the EBU holder with a top ten ranking, but have chosen not to do so with Harrison & Barker.

The fact that Paul Smith is ranked 4 with the WBO is quite strange and rather worrying.

    why??
he is on a 6 fight winning streak, defended the british successfully once, ranked high with the ebu, won wba internation honours last year, so in reality, it isn't that much of a surprise. He is the 3rd ranked SMW in britain behind magee and froch too, so i don't see you logic

It's a murky business and none of the governing bodies are decent.

Exactly. He's only ranked 3rd in Britain. He's beat Dodson and Quigley but so what? He didnt really look that great against them.

    WBC Rankings of European Champions

    Harrison - 22
    Macceranelli - 13
    Cleverly - 6
    Magee - 6
    Barker - 24
    Rhodes - 4
    Hatton - 23
    McCloskey - 7
    Murray - 9
    Kyrakosion - 5
    Yefelicov - 6
    Munroe - 1
    McDonnell - 17
    Sarritzu - 7

The WBC will give you a high rankings after winning the european if you beat a good champion. If you win a vacant title you will need to defend a couple of times to move up.
