I have handled contract disputes on a daily basis in the past and one thing is for sure is you don't need to have a law degree or practice law to know the basic of what a contract entails if that was the case why would they let people sign of on contracts without there lawyers?

Since idksab or too much about negotiations I wouldn't have much to contribute in this aspect. But a little common sense and research helps me to develop an opinion of a situation that myself and no one else here (in regards to any negotiations for future fights) has witnessed first hand. Like I have said this past week since I've joined, I do not believe that there are MUTUAL negotiations taking place between Team May and Pac. I don't know why anyone would think such a thing (outside of believing Michael Koncz or Bob Arum:-(). Here's my question to all of you. What sounds like a more ridiculous request/roadblock? Asking a fighter to leave his promoter to take to biggest fight of his career (and not let your promoter "tax" you, which FMJ and ODLH have done)? Or wait for temporary stadium to be built for a boxing match (that stadium should've been done by now:huh and when has this been necessary for a fight that took place in the US?)

It was Bob who asked Mares to not involve GBP, his promoter at the time, against Donaire. Floyd was just mocking Bob.

And that is why guys like CHEF, TEAM_CHAMBERS, DING, ETC. that are actually involved in negotiations are assests to this website. I have handled some of the contracts for KINGPIN Kevin Johnson, but as for Mayweather-Pacquiao I reserve my judgement til I see what is being presented. I have dealt with Bob Arum (He co-promoted the Damian Wills-Kevin Johnson fight on Showtime August 2007) and Top Rank was very precise on how they wanted their boxers' purse paid. Arum is a jerk, but he is very knowledgeable on percentages, pay structure, etc.

Intellectual property litigation may be the area of litigation most prone to runaway legal fees. Valorem, with offices in Silicon Valley and Chicago, and using trial teams made up of skilled and experienced trial lawyers from elite BigLaw intellectual property practices, is changing that.

I've researched patent infringement, trade secret, copyright, Lanham Act (false advertising, trademark and trade dress infringement), and other intellectual property cases across the country, including judicial districts with patent-intensive dockets, such as the District of Delaware, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern District of Texas and the Northern and Central Districts of California.

No mutual negotiations. it's just BS... Arum has talked to some TV people (Moonves or whatever his name is) and has yet to have any sitdown with Heymon. none of that **** means anything until you sit down with Heymon.

    End of story...

This. Some people act like the contract only says: "You get 60%, I get 40%". When in reality there's a bunch of bull**** and stipulations coming from both men and PPV/purse is not the only thing they're negotiating.

To be honest, Floyd/Manny probably say things that they didn't even include in the contract, or they exclude everything else. People think that what they say in the media is the only issue.

Do we have to be Einstein now to understand a simple contract?
LOL What a dumb ass thread?:patsch

Obviously, Money (fixed %, PPV share)is the most important issue.
Then you may have rematch clauses, weight stipulations, breach of contract, obligation as regards promotion etc .

It is all pretty standard stuff anyway.120 Millions, enough said

Fighters need to fight the big fights for their bank balances , legacies and the good of the sport and as fans we should expect to see the best fights possible .

well...clearly this thread was directed to individuals like yourself:patsch
negotiations(verb) and a contract(noun) are two separate things. The contract may slightly be the easier aspect of negotiations but it's not just a bunch of bullet points.:-( This 120 mill stuff? idk but its a lot of money give or take.
