Ok fine, I'll keep it simple. I love the sport of boxing for the discipline, the competition and the camaraderie.
The promoters and the risk averse fighters have ruined boxing for me. EverythIng about boxing not to do with the money is what I liked.
Very good list here from people. Not really much to add to what has already been said. The main reasons i love it is because theres so much to talk about and discuss. It makes for great chats and arguments in the bar and theres always going to be a countless number of fights and fighters to talk about. I love the heart and courage of the fighters when they really perform at their best. Its had not to watch in awe as they go about their business. I love how its one of the only major sports where legends are born based on the achievements of one man and not a team. I love how the true greats of the sport will always be remembered and revered. I love to make predictions and see they come true or be shocked at a big upset. Its just the best sport in the world.
The honer of two men fighting with fists and when one guy gets knocked down he gets a chance to prove whether it was a lucky shot or not, no cheap knockouts like a street fight. Fighting a fallen man is classless.
As a fan: the skills, the ko's, the element of surprise until the final bell, and its mano y mano no excuses no team sport all the blame is on you, they show more heart than any fighters in the world.MMA fighters quit all the time, if a fighter quits it tarnishes his whole legacy or future, its the oldest sport in the world except maybe running as a fighter: what you put in you get out, everyone can lose but you never lose if you put yo all in it.
The sweet science is a universal language, put a redneck in with a black guy from philly, put an african farm worker in with an east european plumber, put a spanish fireman in with a japanese office worker, the styles may be different (and may not be very different) but the respect and objective is the same of course I could fill a book with why I love Boxing more than any other combat sport (and I was into MMA before it became "the next big thing" ,its boring now)
