Why do you say Trevor Berbick was a "waste of talent"

i disagree, i think prime Berbick would have a 50/50 chance against all 90 fighters without being Lewis or Bowe

The Berbick that won undefeated Page and destroyed Tate, I don't see why he could not beat the Rahmans, Mccall, Bruno, Moorer, etc... 50/50 fights almost all if Berbick isn't the favourite
Agree he can't beat 90 Tyson or Holyfield

Ok, I thought you were throwing in Tyson and Holyfield. Vitali was also around and not 50/50. Calling Ike, Ruddock or even Grant 50/50 is probably a stretch.

I count Vitali from 2000 on, he had no major fights in the 90s.
Agree that a fight against Ike would
have been something similar to the fight against Tyson .. But I see Berbick as a favourite against Grant and Razor.. Both are overrated.. and Berbick is a bit underrated
Both are better known for what they could have been than for what they really were.

Berbick was only 6'2 and about 215--220. I think of him more as spoiler who would throw off boxers who tried to imitate Ali.

Ruddock and Grant were super heavies who didn't mind banging on the inside. Ruddock and Berbick both fought Tyson and it's obvious how much stronger, more powerful and durable Ruddock was compared to Berbick. Grant definitely is underrated these days and I don't wee much of a stylistic problem in Berbick, since Berbick was small with limited power.

The evidence is in sight. Berbick beat better fighters than Ruddock and Grant together ... Berbick's jabb, aggressiveness and consistency are enough to beat the strong but limited Razor and Grant .. Berbick beat Page, Tate and Pinklon Thomas all in his prime, all technical fighters and much better than those named above

I'm gonna go out on a limb say you dislike either Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis. Ruddock was h2h better than Berbick. Not even arguable.

Go watch Grant's fight with izon. Grant would be a favorite against Berbick.

Well, picking Berbick to beat Ruddock is just some hipster revisionist nonsense.

OK you're right Ruddock is god ..

Who did Ruddock beat? Which is his best win?
Again Berbick beat Thomas, Tate and Page.
Ruddock was never constant, he had no defense and he never won a fight on points. He was a basic fighter who relied on his punch. Berbick survives the first rounds and then schools him.

I've pointed out how good Berbick's resume is before. But Tate was falling apart after Weaver, Thomas was distracted by his record label, and Page was inconsistent.

Ruddock would mow Berbick down because Berbick lacked the power to really get his respect, and lacked the defense to not get taken out.
