I have been thinking about this a little lately. And maybe some of you who know more about the business of boxing can tell me why Mayweather is a bigger star then Hopkins.

I think Hopkins fighting style is just as entertaining, maybe even more so then Mayweathers. He is more contraversial and his personality seems more genuine then Mayweathers. Also his ring entrances with the executioner hood I have always been a fan of. I can see why Mayweather is a big star, but in my opinion Hopkins should be bigger.

    A) He isn't as good.

    B) He isn't as entertaining.

    C) He doesn't trash talk as much.

Mayweather is more talented and entertaining. But the biggest reason he's more popular is because he's younger, promotes himself better, and is in more marquee matchups.

Mayweather is much better and has never fought like an absolute disgrace, has never quit, and has never lost. He's also never fought Bo Lipsey, Morrade Haakar, Enrique Ornelas, or a trilogy with Robert Allen.

No one puts as much effort into selling their fights as Floyd. The results speak for themselves.

Hopkins always struck me as the guy who can be a NATURAL AZZhole. Floyd does a damn good job at being the VILLAIN.

hes not as entertaining in the ring, hes not undefeated, hes not as good as floyd when it comes to getting on white peoples nerves, hes not as skilled, and hes not young enough to appeal to the younger generation. :yep

Hopkins is like the kid who was a grouchy AZZhole with little friends. Mayweather is the troublemaker. All eyes are always on the troublemaker.

The stars kind of aligned. He beat the cash cow Dlh. That's when he became mainstream. Then after that, his personality and flashy lifestyle drew people. Not to mention his amazing skill level and dedication to the sport.

Another thing is Hopkins is funnier, he cracks me up. I think that should help him be more famous, but maybe the troublemaker factor in Mayweather trumps all Hopkins star power attributes.
