Is it skill, speed, styles (what about styles), chin?

What would be the odds if SSM still had his chin? (his knees buckled from light punches in the Mora fight)

How do you see the fight playing out?

And if you think otherwise I'd like to hear that, too.

It's movement. Mosley doesn't really move his feet well. Pac is all over the place. Also, this old version Mosley telegraphs his punches.

Sugar Shanes footspeed has dramatically decreased with his age and against someone with the legs of pac he's just not gonna be able to keep up or avoid Pacquiaos onslaught

But don't you guys think he'll land on Pac? Pac isn't the least hittable guy in the world and Shane has fast hands. Shane hits very hard and Pac was shaken by smaller men.

If this fight was made at this weight say 10 years ago. Mosely would destroy Pac, but now I have to agree. He hasnt been the same since the Marg victory.

Destroyed by Mayweather and a lucky draw with Mora. Pac hammers him in 8.

What do you think he lost post Margo? I though both May and Mora out boxed him (not saying he should have lost to Mora, I didn't score it, but Mora was clearly doing better while it was a boxing match), which is a reflection of them just having better skills, and the results would have been the same at any stage of his career. He just didn't know how to get to them, had nothing to do with any mental or phisical deterioration or lack of agression. What do you think he'd have done differently in those two fights pre margo or 10 yrs ago?

I think mosley can win, he has 4 rounds to land a punch that either ko's pac or cuts him very bad. I do believe mosley is capable of that but with pacs movement and chin and roach probably also knowing this, it makes the chance of it happening very small. But this is boxing and mosley has handspeed and power, If he connects very hard in the pening rounds who knows what will happen.
I take pac by mid round tko though.

I don't know why pundits rip this fight, for me the styles are complimentary. What we have here are two fighters in the purest sense and if PAC has advantages they are mostly God given. Mosely has difficulty with guys who box and are tall and play keep away (Mora) PAC vs Mosely will be high contact, PAC is an ambush fighter with speed who darts in throws wicked combos and moves away at times he mixes it up and goes he'll for leather. Mosely is a knockout artist with speed who has lost a step in movement yet because of his punching power and experience is extremely dangerous in a slugfests to be stationary in front of Mosely without a high quality jab or in a defensive posture is suicide.

PAC is neither a defensive artist or a jabber extraordinary he is also close to three inches shorter. Mosely is the hardest punching fighter PAC has ever fought, add that Mosely has never been knocked out and It makes sense to realize that while Mosely is on his feet he is a danger to PAC, Mosley has true one punch Ko power.

Yes Mosely is a bit past it but the average moron has no concept of styles or contrasting strength and weaknesses all they see is Mayweather dominating and Mora playing keepaway or demanding a third Marquez fight. They are probably the same factions who had Margo destroying Mosely. Every time PAC darts in to throw combos in full commit mode he is in danger every time he let's fly in the heat of the moment there wlll be window of opportunity for Mosely0

LOOK VERY CAREFULLY AT THESE HIGHLIGHTS , Mosley PUNCHES ARE NEVER STRAIGHT ANYMORE TOO WIDE AND OPEN FOR COUNTER SHOTS ALL NIGHT.

ONLY THE REF & DOCTOR CAN STOP THE FIGHT,BUT I SEE SOMEONE NAME BY THE NAME OF JACK MOSLEY RUNNING IN THE RING AND STOPPING THIS FIGHT.

"The former trainer of Mosley, his father Jack Mosley was quoted as saying that his son “already has the skills I thought him since he was ten years old” but in order to beat Pacquiao, “I need to train Shane to get him in shape. If I train him. He’s going to win. That’s for sure.”

Defense. Shane is, and always has been pretty easy to hit. Pac is in my opinion the greatest offensive fighter ever. A fighter with no defense that is really easy to hit has no chance at beating Pac.

Pac actually is pretty damn hard to hit flush. He is always moving all over the place like someone said and he is normally punching or ready to punch. He is very fast and can usually land before you do.

People always overlook this when talking of Pac. Its always his offense but his d is damn good.

Wow, I think this poster is smart!!

Ambush fighter is sort of a good way of describing it, this gave you away.

I don't wanna veer of subject, but this is part of why he wins hearts and minds. He could have, as you put it, used the ambush tactic on Margo and won it easy, but he wanted to prove to himself that he could stand toe to toe and that he could fight him off off the ropes, and also wanted to show that he can't bully him even though he's bigger.

This is where the problem is (for Mosley), his knees buckled against Mora on several occasions from punches that didn't look very hard. That said, I'm fairly certain he didn't see them coming, so I'm not quite sure what to make of Mosley's chin.

If Mosely still had his chin I favor him about 70-30 against Pac.

The equasion is simple. Each guy will hit the other plenty (I doubt anyone would dispute this), but Mosley's old chin could take Pac's punches, Pac's chin can't take Mosely's punches.

Exactly, this is the problem with people, they are just not smart. They have this way of thinking where the loser goes to the back of the line and the winner goes to the front and they don't ever take into account what happened in the fight and why and how.
