Why does 1 loss "end" a career?

The reason behind the madness is simple. People fight so few times these days, that every win means a lot more than back in the 50s and 60s when fighters were fighting consistently. So fans seeing a fighter losing takes it as a decline, as if both fighters could somehow win if both were in their "primes".

But the reality behind it is that one doesn't mean your career is over. But it probably will mean lower paychecks, unless you are Gatti or De La Hoya.

but remember knokcout artists have a bit more left in the tank career wise as they can be remembered and relied upon to knock somone out cold. when they lose there 0 they are still respected like miranda for example.

pascal was fed a tomato yesterday who almost put him down on 3 seperate occasions. but a record doesnt show that. it shows a unbeaten record against a man who has only 3 losses.
