Why does a guy like GGG get a pass for fighting Tureano Johnson?'

Triple tune up should be the nickname of the fellow who wanted Smith, Brand and Dunn one after the other

 

Just wanted to touch on these two points, but I agree mostly with your post.
Some of us actually like Stevens and were pulling for him to win that comeback fight.

But for 9.5 rds, he was bullied, battered and schooled. Down on even his fans cards, like 8 rds to 1.

He caught TJ with a L hook with a minute left in the fight.
Johnson stopped his assault and went defensive.

Stevens jumped on him, but without landing anything of consequence, the ref jumped in and stopped it. It was worse than most British stoppages, and had the fight gone to it's full conclusion, TJ would be undefeated and in the top 5-10 of boxrec, and most likely would have already had a title fight.

As for the second part of your post that Im quoting, yes, 110%. He has won both WBC and WBA minor titles, by fighting other top 100 types. Not worthless tomatoes as some suggest GGG fights.
The guys TJ has fought are solid fringe type contenders, quite capable of winning consistently on the B level, and IMO, TJ is 5-1(should be 6-0) against such types, so yes, he's earned this title shot. :thumbsup

GGG hate is obsurd to me.

 

I am sure its just hate on the fans who try to compare him to Hagler before hes done anything Haglersque.

 

on the surface it is....

i mean....very good fighter....goes for the ko...gets it....seems like a real good guy

then you look at his resume...then you listen to his fans....listen to them point blame at everyone else...listen to them dog a fighter like cotto who has a great resume and is a good fighter and good for the sport.......you listen to them talk about how ggg not fighting ward was smart business by ggg....but cotto not fighting ggg makes him a pansy.....you listen to their ridiculousness over....you see him trying to make fights at 168 with froch and chavez but wont take a ward fight serious...and his fans say he shouldnt have to fight ward....yet complain no one will fight him

nobody wants to hate on ggg.....hes very fan friendly...he could be great for the sport....but his fans are acting like pac fans and turning people against him
