Klitchko 41 - Anyone would take the opportunity at that point to add such a name to their CV Takam. 40 - Last minute replacement who wasn't 40 at the time Pulev. 40 - Mando Povetkin 40 - Mando
To be fair the division sucks balls right now and Old Men are some of the top fighters. They are what's around. Looking forward to AJ / Fury so that we finally have a single unarguable champion.
The HW division isn't exactly the strongest. AJ has at least beaten Joseph Parker and Ruiz two young guys. People seriously underrate Parker here, he got very unlucky during that Whyte fight as well. Whyte was given a 10-8 for a clear headbutt in round 2, if this had been scored 10-9 Parker, which it was on it's way to be, the fight would have been scored a draw. Parker is fairly slick, fast handspeed and has some quick feet. Takam was 36/37. But yes still old. Bear in mind: Fury: 37/38 - yo cruiserweight Cunningham, 33yo Right Hand who looked absolutely useless in the Ortiz rematch, until Ortiz got lazy and literally asked for a right hand, 39 yo Klitschko who he marginally outpointed via one or two jabs (and primarily showboating) per round. Wilder : do I even have to explain?
Joshua has fought quite a few old guys. Matt Skelton was 47 years old. Michael Sprott was 39 years old. Hector Avila was 39 years old. Pulev was 39 years old. Wlad was 41 years old. Povetkin was 39 years old. Basically a quarter of his wins (six of 24) have come against guys who were between 39 and 47 years old. Fury is one of the youngest guys he's ever fought, actually. And he looks 40.
its not his fault the highly ranked guys are old, what was he supposed to do, duck them? He fought Parker who was young and at his best He fought Whyte who was young and approaching his best I would think that AJ's resume might be the best in the division though Fury has Wlad and Wilder without the embarrassing loss to Ruiz
